Writing has two parts: one, is the story itself—this is arguably the most important part of every book. However, the second part tends to get overlooked; in fact, I would argue that it's even more important, and that's the writing itself. If you have a really good idea for a story, but the writing is lackluster and monotonous, then it won't be enjoyable to read. On the other hand, you'd be hard pressed to make staring at a wall entertaining. So, my advice is to ensure you have a strong plot and storyline, but also keep in mind the writing itself.
