I am going to skip this one. I got to the 30% mark and decided it's just not for me. I guess I went into it thinking it'd be a contemporary gothic suspense novel, like Mary Stewart or Phyllis Whitney, but it seemed more like a cozy English village mystery. I don't know why, but I've never been able to get into that type of book. So it's not for me, but others might enjoy it.

I had to read The Good Earth in Junior High. It was a giant depressing classic novel. I had no idea Ms. Pearl was also capable of classic trash.
