Shall I read A Little Life?

¡Holaaa! So... I’ve just been given A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. To be honest, I hadn’t heard of the book before and I don’t know anything about it. I didn’t want to look it up in case I came across any spoilers.

But... is it worth reading?

Im currently reading and almost done and it’s an incredible story but extremely dark. I haven’t been able to put it down and at any free moment I have I want to keep reading. It’s beautiful and sad but well worth it.

If you’re not okay with super triggering books or books on dark topics then I wouldn’t read.

Most definitely! It’s a beautiful but heartbreaking book. I saved it for my last book of the year in 2023 and it was a wonderful read. Would recommend it x

i think if you prepare yourself for some pretty dark stories and testimonies and remind yourself that this is not the book to get completely lost in, you should be okay (not knowing your triggers of course), but this is what helped me. i always prepared myself for the worst as books like this really get to me and living through someone else‘s story is what i enjoy the most about books, but here i had to be really strict with myself to not do that as its a long book and could stay with you for a long time and it really shouldnt because it is really dark. if you think you can distance yourself from these characters and their trauma - yes, do it. there is a reason why its so popular. but if it will affect you in the worst ways - dont, you mental health is so much more important than this.
