I am a sucker for stories of young men in love with each other (Red, White & Royal Blue, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, etc. This one features two college students, basically the Jock and the Geek. But neither of them ever struck me as real people, and a lot of the conversation seemed forced. And where are the editors? Sure an average college hockey player wouldn't speak with fine points of grammar, but a Geek who likes literature as much as science would never say "to Carter and I". (One of my pet peeves in real life, apparently most people don't care any more.)
