S. MacLean | 6 comments My correct author profile is at: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

It appears a secondary author profile (unclaimed) has been generated when my publishers added my books: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Can you please move all the books from this secondary profile into my main author profile?

In the secondary profile, there are two foreign language editions of The Phoenix Keeper:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
These should be moved into the main entry for The Phoenix Keeper: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

The secondary profile as one edition of Voidwalker: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Which should be moved to the main Voidwalker page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Finally, I just had a new book announced, Sunsplitter. There are two editions for Sunsplitter, that should be merged into a single book:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Sunsplitter is also the sequel to Voidwalker, so it should be added as book 2 in the Beasts of the Void series: https://www.goodreads.com/series/4076...

Thank you!

Shim (slimmy) | 3653 comments I have merged that profile into this profile: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

and I have sent a request to Goodreads Support to merge your profile into that profile.

Thank you for the update! But shouldn't the other profiles be merged into my profile (not the other way around) since this is the profile I have verified with the Goodreads author program? I'm not sure where the other profile you listed came from, either.

Shim (slimmy) | 3653 comments The correctly formatted author name according to Goodreads policy is "S.A. Maclean". Goodreads' policy does not include spaces between initials in names.

Your claimed profile status will be moved along with everything else.

Author profiles are created automatically according to how the author name is entered on a book record.

Based on the edit history for that page it looks like you used to have that page. Then on October 3 2025 you added a space in your author name. (and then back and forth several times for some reason?). You should not modify your author page name.

Thank you for the clarification. I had changed my name (on my main author profile) to include a space, since the second (auto-generated?) author profile had a space for some reason, and I was hoping my new book would get connected to the correct profile if the space was present (since the space appears on all the retailer feeds of my book). Hopefully, with all the accounts merged into one, this issue won't occur again.

(I think the third account you found might be from when I used to write fanfic many years ago, but I haven't used that account or had access to it since I got my verified author profile for my traditionally published books)

Scott | 9331 comments If you correct your name on Amazon to match Goodreads formatting, you can avoid the problem in future.

That's helpful to know! Are you saying that, if I don't have a space in the name for my Goodreads author profile, any new books that populate on Amazon with a space in the name will lead to another author profile being created, rather than being attributed to me?

I'll have to check with my publishers, about what standard formatting for my name they're using. Unfortunately, they're the ones entering the info on all the retailer feeds, I only noticed this secondary author account a few days ago. I'm not sure why several of the more recent editions of my books got sent there, when I've been using my main author profile for two years and a bunch of different editions, without any problems (and as far as I can tell, the space was in my name the whole time on the retailer feeds).

Scott | 9331 comments Yes, names transfer over here exactly as they are formatted on Amazon.

Understood! I'll definitely use the correct naming, moving forward.

For now, instead of filing a support ticket to merge my active author profile with a different profile I'm not using, could I instead request that all the books on https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... be changed to "S. A. MacLean" with the space, so they will move over to my correct author profile? https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

I can then change my author profile to remove the space in my name, so it follows Goodreads guidelines.

If possible, I would prefer not to have any details merged with that old account, since as I said, I used to use it for fanfic, and I want to keep it separate from my trad pub works (I actually thought that account was deleted a while back). If possible, I'd prefer that old account to be deleted, and the stray editions of my books transferred to my active author account?

Scott | 9331 comments Shim has already asked to have the profiles merged. If the name is the same and they are both you, they would include all your works. We wouldn't separate fan fiction.
