A dystopian thriller with a unique premise: the collapse of homo sapiens and the rise of Neanderthals after a solar disaster.
The story kicks off from various viewpoints scattered across the globe, which slowly interconnect as events unfold. There are some really cool ideas floating around, but the execution felt a little boggy in sections—certain parts like the hospital section genuinely grabbed me, while other stretches dragged and made me wish the book had been trimmed. By the end, I was just trying to power through. Also, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t last a day in Carlson’s apocalypse, so at least I learned something about myself!
