I have a question about AI

I am a writer, NOT an artist. I hired a person from Fivver to make me a book cover. He pretty much nailed what I wanted. However, in putting it out there it didn’t get much attention which makes me think I need to rethink the cover.
Now, I can’t afford to hire an artist to make me 3 or 4 covers to put out there to see which readers like the best. BUT, I can go on Canva and create some ideas …see what works, and have an artist make me a cover based on my research.
But, people freak with anything involving AI. Any advice? Are we now at the point where I have to hand draw something so as not to offend anyone? Thank you.

Well, since the customer is paying, who else can you ask? Is the cover for the author or the reader?
