Older novel about the dead re-animated as slave labor

A while ago I came across a novel about a woman who regains consciousness as a zombie and attempts to find out what happened to her. The crux of the story is that people are brought back from the dead and used as labor. The cover was black and featured an illustration of the main character with zombies behind her. It looked like it was from the '70s.
