Q&A:
Q: Can teammates read the same book for a task?
A: There are a couple of tasks where the team needs to read different books, but if it doesn't specifically say that you are free to read the same book.
Q: Are audio only books allowed for this challenge?
A: If the audio only book is at least 6 hours long - it will count as a book towards a book total or as 150 pages towards the page total depending on what the task requires.
Q: What are the rules if the book is so bad you can’t finish it?
A: I will accept DNFs if you read to the minimum page count of this challenge (150 p.) AND 70% of the book. Books need to be a minimum of 250 pages using the first edition Kindle page count. You must also state that the book is a DNF and explain why in your completion, including the page number you finished on as well. The page you finished on would be the number counted for tasks that ask the team to read a certain number of pages.

Regarding notifications, I have been told that Goodreads isn’t sending them anymore.
I get notifications on Goodreads. You have to give Goodreads permission to see them in the app/ on the website. You have to give your phone permission to get a notification as a banner or on your Lock Screen.

The minimum page count for this challenge is 150 pages using the first edition Kindle page count. (Please always double check this before starting your books!)
The example you have is from the Q&A for if you want to DNF a book. To be able to DNF a book and have it count, you need to read the minimum page count for this challenge (150 p.) AND have that be at least 70% of the book. So you can't DNF a book under 250 pages or you will not hit those minimums. Your choice then would be to either finish the book or to start over. If you choose to DNF a book, you also need to state that in your completion post and explain why, including the page number you finished on.

What if their favorite books are in the middle of a series? Are we able to read the first book in the same series and have it count?
Or for lists? If book 5 is listed, are we able to read book 1 in the same series?

However - if I was reading a kindle version, there are 3 ( just English print not looking at foreign kindle editions)
All printed 23/08/22 the Berkley publisher is 334 pages - then there are two Hodder editions! One has 338 pages and the other has 301 pages 😱😱😱
Having mentioned foreign language ( for me that is anything not printed in English) if say a french version kindle was printed before my English version - do I use the french page number as printed before my English version?

At the bottom of the task list it says

For tasks that the series rule applies, I should have that included in the task description that will be given when a task is assigned. Feel free to ask if it isn't and you want to use it.

OK, you need to use the earliest dated English language Kindle edition page count. If there are more than one Kindle editions with the same publication date, you are free to use any of them. In general if your page count comes from an English language Kindle edition dated with the original publication date - it will count. If it comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition - it will count. If it comes from an English language Kindle edition labeled as 1st edition - it will count.
This is done to standardize things. Especially because so many of the tasks call for a total page count to be read.
So for your example, you can use for your page count 334, 338 or 301 and your book will work.

I believe for all cover tasks you can use any edition's cover.

No pass for this task."Is this breaking down to state if the hometown is small and will never be the setting of a book? Or what about foreign countries that aren't big cities?
