Katie | 1 comments hi friends!

i'm a 24 y/o gal in nursing school who loves fashion, music, self help, being outside, and learning! (the list goes on and on but i'll save y'all from boredom for now hehe)
when i was young, i read like nobody's frickin business. the normal pre-teen/ya books like tfios, the divergent and hunger games series, the city of ember, etc.
now that i'm older, i realized i really just don't love fiction. i get it's an escape for reality for many, but it's hard for me to get into things that i know are fake. i don't really like tv/movies for this reason either. (call me weird, it's okay!) i've tried to read verity, normal people, the midnight library, and harry potter and i lose interest so fast. my biggest character flaw is that i neverrrrr finish a book.
however, after i have experienced some pretty big life events and being in nursing school, ive noticed i really enjoy psychology, self help, science/medicine, and spirituality books a lot more. things i can use and apply to my everyday life! like, i read my textbooks for fun. idk what that says about me but i'll just tell myself it's something good! i've been working through mindfulness by tessa watt and the body keeps the score by bessel van der kolk. oh yeah, also read dante's inferno.
anywhooooo based off of this ramble sesh i'd love to hear any recommendations! i'm really trying to stay off of my phone nowadays and get back into the hobbies that shaped me to be the person i am today.
and if anyone wants to be friends lmk :) love ya bye!

Cadence | 37 comments The House of My Mother by Shari Franke is very good! She writes her life in such a captivating way that it almost felt like a page turner thriller to me. Her story was an interesting case study of the LDS religion, seeing as how many of the ways she was treated could be connected to their extreme beliefs.
