Jayne Siroshton | 8 comments Hello Librarians,

I’m Jayne Siroshton, author of the Rookscroft Trilogy. I’d be very grateful if you could help me with two things:

1. Please add my three latest hardback editions to Goodreads and list me as the author:

• Rookscroft: Book One (Hardback) — ISBN 978-1-0684543-0-1
• Rookscroft: Book Two (Hardback) — ISBN 978-1-0684543-1-8
• Rookscroft: Book Three (Hardback) — ISBN 978-1-0684543-2-5

2. My earlier editions are currently attached to an older Goodreads account that I no longer have access to (it was created under a defunct email domain). Could you please move those existing Rookscroft books so that they are associated with my new official author account (linked to this profile)?

Thank you very much for your help in keeping my author page accurate and up to date.

Best regards,
Jayne Siroshton

Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 20400 comments I think it would be simpler to contact Support, ask how to regain access to your existing - approved - author profile https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
and have it updated with your current email address/provider's domain.

Then you'll be able to update your profile and add your new books yourself.

Jayne Siroshton | 8 comments Thank you for the reply. I did try contacting Goodreads Support first, but unfortunately they told me they cannot merge accounts and that I need access to the old email address in order to use my existing profile. The difficulty is that the email domain tied to that account (wildharegreetings.com) no longer exists, so I have no way to recover it.

That’s why I created this new account under my name and with my active email at rookscroft.com — so I can keep my author page current. I completely understand that Support usually handles account matters, but I’m stuck in a loop: Support tells me they won’t help, and now I’m being told to go back to Support.

Is there any way the books could be reassigned to this new account so that my author page reflects my work properly? I’m very happy to provide ISBNs, publisher details, or whatever proof is needed. I just want readers to be able to find the correct editions of my books under my name.

Thank you again for your time and for any help you can give.

Best regards,
Jayne

Can you please link to that new author profile?
When clicking on your OP's name I'm being linked to your Goodreads user account, not to a new author account.

Jayne Siroshton | 8 comments This is my user profile. It’s not yet an author account because I don’t have any books attached. Could you please link my new hardback editions (ISBNs I listed above) to this profile so that I can then apply for Author status?

Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 20400 comments In order to make proper entries of your new hardback editions we need the corresponding publisher links to the relative book pages, enabling us to add all necessary details, a.o. ISBNs and appurtenant covers.

message 7: by Jayne (new)

Jayne Siroshton | 8 comments Thank you for offering to add them! Here are the official publisher links with full details for each edition:

Book One (Hardback) — ISBN 978-1-0684543-0-1
https://rookscroft.co.uk/products/roo...

Book Two (Hardback) — ISBN 978-1-0684543-1-8
https://rookscroft.co.uk/products/roo...

Book Three (Hardback) — ISBN 978-1-0684543-2-5
https://rookscroft.co.uk/products/roo...

Each page includes the ISBN, cover, and description. Please let me know if you need any additional bibliographic info.

Thank you again for your help!

Best regards,
Jayne

Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 20400 comments Hi Jayne,

I see there's one more book on your old profile:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

Do you want that one to be moved to your new profile as well?

The Rookscroft-trilogy is now under your new profile, that has -temporarily- been created under your name with two spaces between first and last name, in order to distinguish it from the old one:
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

message 9: by Jayne (new)

Jayne Siroshton | 8 comments Thank you so much for your help getting the trilogy moved over — I really appreciate it!

Regarding the other book you mentioned: I’d actually prefer that title not be linked to my new profile. It’s an old work that I no longer want to promote, so please feel free to leave it as-is without moving it over.

One additional question: is it possible to set this new author profile as the default for any future books published under my name? I’d like to make sure that new editions or records are automatically linked here, rather than to the old inactive profile.

Thanks again for all your time and support!

Best regards,
Jayne

Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 20400 comments Usually the one-space profile is used as the default profile for any bot-imported booklistings from the Kindle catalog, so I'm afraid these new auto-imports would go to your old profile.

You can try and contact support to switch both profiles:
1) Change your old profile https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... to use Jayne^^Siroshton (two spaces)

2) and change your new profile https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... to use Jayne^Siroshton (one space)

The new profile can now be claimed.

Jayne Siroshton | 8 comments Thank you so much for all your help with this — I really appreciate the guidance and the work you’ve done moving the trilogy over.

I’ve just requested Author status for my new profile. Once that’s approved, I’ll follow your suggestion and contact Support to request the name swap so my new profile becomes the default going forward.

Thanks again for your time and support!

Best regards,
Jayne

Jayne Siroshton | 8 comments Hi again, sorry to keep bothering you — I really appreciate all the help so far.

I noticed that the Rookscroft series page (https://www.goodreads.com/series/1553...
) currently only has the first book attached. Could you please also add the other two books in the trilogy?

#2 – The Circus of the Crescent Moon

#3 – Into the Wild Woods

And one more request, if possible: could the latest hardback editions (the ones you just added) be set as the default entries for the series? That way readers land on the most up-to-date versions when browsing.

Thanks again for all the time you’ve put into this — I really appreciate your help in making sure everything is accurate.

Best regards,
Jayne

Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 20400 comments Hi Jayne,

Series has now been updated: https://www.goodreads.com/series/1553...

With regard to setting the primary or default edition of a work: this cannot be done by librarians, only by staff or yourself once you've been admitted as approved author again; https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...
