🗝️ Week 3 Response
This key slipped into place like it had been waiting for you.
Maybe the stories we resist are the ones we need most.

What gap do you think your partner’s book filled for them—and was it the one you expected?

bamaace83 | 1513 comments I didn't go in as deep on my reflection as you did, lol. I probably should've now that I see this post. I totally understand about reading a book because it fits for all the things. I think this book was able to help out in lots of different things for you but also give you time to take a break from your usual reading. It was a book of surprises for you because the blurb definitely sounds like a stiff drink and a snack is needed to get through it. I put it as to read because it sounds like it had a nice twist and made you keep reading it. I also think I need a nature book somewhere.... I love when books end up being better than expected.

I just like to write! Lol! But I do find the second question/response is a bit hard to just keep going with....

I was a little surprised that you went with a Sci Fi/Horror tag! It was definitely outside your comfort zone. It's good that it, at least, wasn't horrible for you; seems like you sort of liked it as far as the writing style. Maybe this genre has started to grow on you because you have read a lot of it lately!!

bamaace83 | 1513 comments It's that book quest challenge that I got myself roped into at the beginning of the year. That one is a doozy. I think to myself 10 tasks a month, I can do that, and then bam, all the extras come into play. This month was really hard to get the mpg and those nature tasks. I gave up halfway through the month on the mpg. Next month, is horror and thriller so I can read 10 thriller books. :)

Book Quest is pushing me beyond my norm too! I was very happy to see the Thriller MPG too. I don't hate horror, but I don't think I could read 10 in a month!

bamaace83 | 1513 comments I think I have to read at least one horror and it involves bats....so we will see how that one goes. Thriller is much easy to make happen.

🔐 Week 4 Prompt: Pick a Trope, Any Trope
This lock is a little more dramatic than the others. It wants a twist.
Choose a book with a trope you either love, hate, or can’t stop reading.
Enemies to lovers. Found family. Secret royalty. You know the type.

Your partner has to guess how you feel about it.

bamaace83 | 1513 comments Hmmm, I guess I probably should go away from hot hockey boys, lol. I'll see what I can come up with for this one.

I bet you can find a hot hockey player book that fits this prompt perfectly! Lol! They have to have some tropes!

Let's see... How did you feel about your book.
It's not a hot hockey guy, but it seems like it might be a hot actor/writer guy!

The blurb sounded cute. I don't know how you feel about cute though. I'm going to guess that you liked it okay, but it was nothing to write home about!

message 63: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1513 comments Hmm, I know you love a good suspense type book but this one also is a little more romance then thriller. The cute guy on the cover makes it more appealing. I think you liked the damsel in distress but I'm thinking it might not have been as much action forward as you like sometimes.

Yeah, it was a cute story but nothing to run with. I needed it to fit lots of other challenges and was like oh yeah it's got some tropes. Her books always come in when I need a non USA book and she's a solid writer but not one of my all time favorite ones.

Yep, you are right in line with the book. I liked it and would read more from the author. It wasn't a helpless damsel - that I don't care for! She held her own and it actually had more action than I would have expected! So, a nice surprise.

Some keys are forged in pattern.
Whether you leaned in or tried to break free, you told us something.

Were you right about how your partner felt about their trope—or totally off?

🔐 Week 5 Prompt: Through Their Eyes
The fifth lock is not yours to open alone.
Choose a book that helps you better understand someone else’s perspective—real or fictional, historical or contemporary.
Someone different from you.
