Evangeline Raj | 3 comments Hi, I’m looking for a medieval romance I read on Archive.org (borrowed copy).

The hero is a crusader and a widower -- his wife dies while he’s away. He returns home, meets the heroine, they fall in love, they sleep together at an inn and then he proposes to her. I read it years ago, but the book itself might be 90s or early 2000s. I don’t recall the title or author. It was in English, likely a US or UK romance release. I’ve already tried Archive.org searches with phrases like “Crusader” and “medieval romance” but haven’t found it yet. What's more, my account got locked.

Does anyone recognise this story? Thanks in advance!

I got locked out of archive.org for some reason. I've sent them an email, but they haven't replied. Any idea what the title of the book is?

Evangeline, around what year did you read this book?

Can you describe the hero and heroine (e.g., their jobs, social status)? They were strangers?

I copied some plot details to the topic header. Feel free to edit it.

Thanks for the edit, should've though of that, but I'm still new around here.

I can't give you much details except I read the book a few years ago, and it's not a new release. It was probably published late 90's, maybe early 2000s. They were not former lovers or childhood sweethearts. They were strangers.

I can't remember much detail other than that. Sorry :'(

Her innocence was the greatest temptation he had ever faced!

One Thought Consumed Her: Escape!
Lucy Kendal would do anything to leave the convent she'd called home since girlhood. But never had she dreamed the world contained such danger -- and such desire -- as she'd experienced firsthand. Though Sir Alexander Breton had rescued her countless times, he also stirred in her a sense of wildness -- something he was honor bound never to fulfill!

One Emotion Compelled Him: Grief!
Widowed knight Alexander Breton had gone crusading to retreat from sorrow. Indeed, he was to take monastic vows after fulfilling a sacred quest for a dying friend. But fate decreed he would instead find Lucy Kendal, the brave, beauteous innocent, who needed protection...and needed him!
