Drace (dracenines) | 7367 comments Question regarding some ISBN problems.

Brown Girl in the Ring - This edition of the book Brown Girl in the Ring by Nalo Hopkinson is the newest ACE. The ISBN 9780446674331 is correctly assigned to it, and though there are some errors on the book (the date is the biggest one - this ACE was published 2012), it is where the ISBN should be.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... - This edition of the book is the older version of the ISBN 9780446674331. I have a copy of it on Interlibrary Loan in real life and it has 9780446674331 and/or its ISBN-10 equivalent on the back cover, on the front cover, and on the copyright page. You can also view a scan of the same edition on the Internet Archive to confirm the ISBN: https://archive.org/details/browngirl...

In addition, there is an archived version of the publisher's website dating back to a year after the book was first published proving that ISBN-13 9780446674331 and ISBN-10 0446674338 previously belonged to this edition: https://web.archive.org/web/199909150...

And on top of this, if you look closely at the image used on Goodreads, you can barely make out in blurry yellow text on the left side of the cover that the ISBN-10 is 0446674338.

Despite all of this, the ISBN is set to 9780446606271. I won't go so far as to claim that this ISBN is nonexistent, but based on all the evidence laid out, I will say that it certainly shouldn't be on this edition. Also, I have not been able to find any evidence of an edition of Brown Girl in the Ring with the ISBN 9780446606271. No photos of a physical copy of the book, I've searched through at least a dozen different library catalogs using WorldCat and have only found listings for ISBN 9780446674331, I've only been able to find Amazon listings without actual photos.

Is this reason enough to request that the librarians use ACE creation to move ISBN 9780446606271 onto a separate edition, or does that ISBN have to stay in place despite all evidence to the contrary?

Martin | 35166 comments We shouldn't use ACE tool as a way of getting around the restriction on editing ISBN.
If an ISBN needs to be moved or removed you can ask support to help.

Drace (dracenines) | 7367 comments I did check in with support, but they completely ignored all of the proof I presented about why that edition isn't ISBN 9780446606271, including the fact that there is literally a different ISBN on the cover art, and said "WorldCat says it is though."

Martin | 35166 comments If support staff aren't willing to change/remove it it would be wrong for a librarian to change things using an incorrect workaround.
