Hi friends!

Once again, fall has snuck up on me. I don't know how this happens, but it has, once again. I'm hoping that you all have had a safe and wonderful summer, with lots of fun and reading.

I read an article in the Wall Street Journal this summer that featured a list — 25 Years of Fictional Mayhem. It's a list of the best 25 mystery/thrillers in the last quarter century, at least according to this critic. I've added them all to my TBR, and decided to mine the list for 6 selections for us to read over the fall and winter months. There are so many good ones here, it was hard to choose. I tried to mix crime and mystery, different locations and situations. Take a look at the list below, and let me know if there are any that are very hard to find. I can swap in an alternate if there is a selection that proves generally difficult to get a hold of.

September - Small Mercies, Dennis Lehane, 2023
October - Big Sky (Jackson Brodie #5), Kate Atkinson, 2019
November - IQ, Joe Ide, 2016
December - The Plot (The Book Series #1), Jean Hanff Korelitz, 2021
January - Your House Will Pay, Steph Cha, 2019
February - Find You First, Linwood Barclay, 2021

I will get the discussion posted for our Sept read in the next couple of days. Now, it's back to Postmortem for me :)

I added these books to the bookshelves.

I’m Kendra and am new to the group. The list that was mentioned from the New York Times is interesting! I’m also wondering, is this a group where we pick a book from crime and mystery to read, then report about it? I’m trying to figure out exactly how it works.

Hi Kendra!
I generally curate a list twice a year and whomever wants to join in for any or all reads is welcome. We discuss along the way, spoiler tagging comments. Please join us if you like!
