It's amusing that some of them have a dozen or more tropes listed - you could almost write the book yourself with that much info.

You can't really do better than free. It's today only."
Thanks, for that, Judith. I picked up a few.
by Lori FosterThis was NOT really a smutty book but I did love this first meeting ...
"OMG. Awash with humiliation, she turned to face her clients ... and holy crapola. Pretty sure her ovaries just danced.
Travis Long was a feast for the peepers. She knew because her eyes were gobbling him up from head to toe."

There’s Pumpkin About You is October-y, meet cute with a fair amount of spice.
I liked the setting and the characters. Thought the book could use a bit of polishing up. I could not bear to read the word whilst once more, whilst reading this book.
by Ilona AndrewsThis is a SLOW burn as the characters don't really get together (need to keep readers coming back for another book in the series, apparently).
BUT, there IS a delicious scene where Mad Rogan's magic "tactile" sense comes into play and Nevada fairly melts ... before she zaps him.

Love this series. It smolders and occasionally erupts into flaming smut, then smolder with a flicker of smut here and there before another comes along that blows you away. .
Just a reminder that Fall Into Smut continues to end of the year. I mean, there's always great holiday season smut to be read!Today I visiting Beastly Books in Santa Fe, a SFF bookstore started by George R.R. Martin when he opened the Jean Cocteau Movie Theater here. I've been trying to get to that bookstore since it opened, but somehow on my visits, it never worked out. I was determined this time.
It is WONDERFUL! I'm sure far expanded and fine tuned over the years. And while SFF is front and center, there is more and it's just a cool place to visit, even if all you read is non-fiction. It also carries a lot of books by local authors, including crime fiction writers like Ramona Emerson from Albuquerque.
Why I'm posting about it here - they had a huge section of books in the lighter SFF cozy, romantasy - and there were a number of staff picks in that section, with mention of the smut level. A few smutty ones found their way into my stack - which I had the shop ship to me, of course.
Soooo, hopefully I'll manage to get a couple read and they will prove worthy of the Fall Into Smut Best Moments reel.
I just finished Blind Date with a Werewolf by Patricia Briggs. This is part of the Alpha and Omega series, which is an off-shoot from the Mercy Thompson universe. So definitely not a stand-alone book.I rarely give genre books more than 4 stars, but loved this one so much it got 5 stars from me.
The situations were hilarious (in the context of the gory monster slaying that goes on in Briggs' books).
A very dangerous werewolf is set up on dating websites without his knowledge. Then he's challenged to complete 5 blind dates, one from each site. Does Asil find love along the way?? Maybe....
There is a bit of romance, but no real smut. Briggs' love scenes are always "fade to black", and this book was no exception.
I'm glad the discussion continues, but my latest pick misfired. I should probably stick with tried and tested authors and avoid experiments in a genre that is not one of my top choices.Alice Clayton - Wallbanger - 2 stars
It's supposed to be a comedy, and the first chapters are really great fun and promising, but the setting and the jokes get old much too quickly.
Now, up until this point in my life, I’d shared that old theory that sex was like pizza. Even when it’s bad, it’s still pretty good. I now hated pizza. For several reasons.

Securing Caite by Susan Stoker
3 stars - military romantic suspense featuring SEALS, and truly set within the military with a theme of smuggling of Middle Eastern artifacts.
my review
I was looking for smut - and yes there was some but it was pretty tame. The writing of the intimate scenes was just flat - this was one of the better moments: Even standing there with his boots on, jeans around his ankles and his dick doing its best to break free of its cotton prison, he was amazing. And he was all hers.
I do think a few euphemisms would have increased the steam level significantly, especially as there was some mighty fine and romantic kisses and drawn out foreplay.
On the other hand, this was unusually sweet and charming for one of these SEAL/Military romances. It for sure had plenty of thriller actions and life/death situations, but even those read a bit tame.
But that cover -- and I think the artist actually read the book!
Yet I did enjoy it, enough to read the 2nd in the series, which is transitioned into at the very end of this one - and begins with the rescue of a dog ... which is immediately named Hannah by our studly SEAL. *sigh*
