Does anyone else think Joshua Landsverk is a total creep?

To start with I am a huge fan of these books, I've read all 15 or so books prior starting with the Red River of the North Series. Astrid is one of my favorite characters along with Ingeborg and Thorliff. So from the very beginning I feel like she deserves a stellar partner. Joshua Landsverk shows up in Blessing, seemingly obsessed with Astrid which is so odd because we only know of one interaction that they had when he sold his cows and land to the Bjorklunds, and she was really young at that time, only 15 or 16 years old. He leaves Blessing and returns home to a woman named Fiona who has married someone else, but still had a relationship of some sort with her, so why is he looking at Astrid to begin with? And then he claims he never forgot Astrid and came back to Blessing for her, again, I'm wondering where all this comes from because he never spent any time with her, very creepy to be obsessed with someone that young for all those years without knowing them and having another woman in your life already. I realize women married young back then but it was still so strange. He arrives, in the first book, at the boarding house and that morning he already is getting Sophie to arrange a meeting with Astrid at the soda shop, again a real creep move, I mean he JUST arrived. I also question Sophie's judgement considering she doesn't even know him, but just thinks he's good looking, but keeps pushing Astrid and him together (I like Sophie too which is why this was so weird). And he says to Rebecca that she'll see them both there often, which is SO presumptuous because again, he doesn't know Astrid barely at all and doesn't even know if she's interested in him. What follows is a series of interactions which are so limited, they don't have any chance to get to know each other including their letter writing, but Joshua already claims throughout the three books to be thinking about marrying her. It's so creepy, all he thinks about is Astrid and he really doesn't even know her. We get to know him throughout the books but besides being called good looking and a good singer and musician, he doesn't have a ton going for him. His personality is only so-so and he seems to be a very angry and hateful person. I guess he's a good enough worker to be hired though. He makes a huge decision to buy land and a house to marry a girl he barely knows. It's just beyond creepy and weird and I keep wondering if I am the only one who feels this way. Ultimately *spoiler alert* Astrid doesn't end up with him which made me so happy. I really like Daniel Jeffers, even if he is a bit of a mama's boy. But he seems to support for and care for Astrid more authentically than Joshua ever did and actually puts in the time and effort to get to know her before becoming obsessed and making huge plans for their future. I wish we had more story with Daniel Jeffers. And once Joshua is rejected, the fact that he tries to quit his job and leave his home, land and brother behind shows how obsessed he was with Astrid and how she truly was the only reason he returned to Blessing. I've read this book and the series more than five times, and every time I have the most negative reaction to Joshua and his storyline. So I ask am I the only one who thinks he is a total creep??
