Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 135 comments Real life probably got in the way for the mods and I totally understand that. Hopefully the other team hasn't gotten their next task already.

Kelly you haven't put our next spin in the completion

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 135 comments I thought we never got our #16 spin because we got the bonus game. I thought we'd still need to use that number like they've had us do with other bonuses like James Dean. I see now that it's not listed under bonuses but there're no words next to #16, either. I didn't see a check mark before. I bet that was checked off after check in so before I checked us in, it looked like #16 wasn't done. So I put number 16 in the post.

I don't know if the mods usually add the toy to the spreadsheet but I did that because it wasn't there. I think things are more complete when Lisa helps.

Anastasia (anastasiaruff) | 2024 comments 16 was Dead Man's Dice- it wasn't a bonus. I have been adding the labels to ones that were not labelled

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 135 comments I got it. I was just explaining my logic. I didn't notice the number 16 at the top. I did read it but you guys made the decision before I saw the game--which I 100% agreed with--and I paid more attention to what happened as a result of the decision.

I know I keep not noticing things but lately my life has been very stressful. It's better now that I got the restraining order against my roommate but she wasn't served the permanent one and I'm constantly afraid she's going to come back. and Things just keep happening.

Right now I'm with my granddaughter and I had to fly out to get her and have to fly to take her back and our flights were cancelled and I have to/want to spend all the small amount of time I'm here with her. And my concentration is bad right now which is why I can only listen to audiobooks.

I feel like I'm constantly apologizing. I'm sorry you got stuck with me being such a mess and that I'm not as fast as Richard was, but I read/listen as fast as I can (usually at 1.5 speed) and I think I'm doing okay. I hope?

I can let you guys check us in if you prefer.

message 359: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (anastasiaruff) | 2024 comments You are doing great Kelly and there is no need to apologize. We understand that life often throws us curveballs. No-one is as fast as Richard so you shouldn't compare yourself to him and we are happy that you were able to step in when he had to leave. It just seems to take a while for us to get our tasks at the moment so trying to make sure everything is done to avoid further delays as we are hoping to get through them all before the end.

11. Jumanji
description
The Jumanji board game is a mysterious and magical game that serves as the central catalyst for adventure and chaos in the Jumanji films and original picture book by Chris Van Allsburg.

At first glance, Jumanji appears to be an antique, beautifully crafted wooden board game with ornate carvings, a central green-glowing dome, and sliding animal totems as game pieces. Its tagline warns players:
“A game for those who seek to find, a way to leave their world behind.”

But Jumanji is no ordinary game. Once the first dice are rolled, it unleashes real-world consequences based on each move: stampeding animals, violent weather, quicksand, giant insects, jungle vines, and other perilous phenomena spill into reality, threatening both players and their surroundings. The game cannot be paused or stopped, only completed. The only way to end the chaos is for someone to reach the final space and yell, "Jumanji!"

The game possesses a dark sentience, pulling players into its world (or bringing its world to them), and has a reputation for lying in wait, ready to tempt the next curious soul. Equal parts thrilling and dangerous, the Jumanji board game is as much a test of courage and friendship as it is of survival.

Roll to Survive
You didn’t mean to open it.
It looked old, maybe even beautiful—carved wood, green-glowing center, and that line etched across the top:
“A game for those who seek to find, a way to leave their world behind.”

Now the room is shaking.
There are vines in your bookshelf.
And something is watching from the ceiling.

You have three rolls to make it out alive.
You cannot skip your turn.
You must finish the game.
You don’t win. You survive.

🎲 How to Play:
The dice are in your hands, but make no mistake—the game is in control.
Roll two six-sided dice (2d6) three times.
Each roll will give you a number from 2 to 12.
https://www.online-stopwatch.com/chan...#

For every number you roll, the board will unleash one challenge.
You must complete three tasks total—one per roll.
You may not skip. You may not reroll. The board does not care for hesitation.

When you're ready to begin, post in the Occult Museum (Check-In Thread) with:
Your Team Name
Your three rolls
A link to your team’s tracking spreadsheet

Once you've declared your fate, the jungle listens.
The vines creep. The drums beat.
And the game... begins.

The total of two dice will NEVER give you a 1. At least according to my math skills. Maybe not by Shan's. How about you try again and resubmit?...🤣

4 – Unnatural Weather
It’s not just the storm outside—it’s coming for you.
Read a book where weather plays a major or magical role. Bonus if it’s apocalyptic.

6 – Do Not Split the Party
Alone = dead.
Read a book featuring a group or team, especially one with internal tension, betrayal, or secrets.

9 – Jungle Knows Your Fears
It always chooses what you hate most.
Read a book that includes your least favorite trope or genre. Suffer, sweetly.

LOL, I had to mess with you. I wouldn't be me if I didn't. It doesn't matter which site you use as long as you use two dice and learn some math... ROFL!

Nearly finished a book that fits

Shan ~A~ | 1395 comments I'll take 4 – Unnatural Weather

Kelly if you have a book that fits that instead, let me know and we can switch. I'm finishing another book before looking either way.

Shan ~A~ | 1395 comments I just realized the book I'm reading works for 6 – Do Not Split the Party
Alone = dead.
Read a book featuring a group or team, especially one with internal tension, betrayal, or secrets.

but I have a book that I can read next that works for 4.

message 373: by Kelly (Maybedog) (new)

Kelly (Maybedog) (maybedog) | 135 comments I can't read number 9 if it's for real. I mean, my least favorite is like incest or something. I'd quit the game before I'd read that. If it's just like a genre you really hate, not just dislike, I could make it work but I'd prefer either of the other ones. I'll be traveling all day tomorrow and can get some reading in while on the plane, but not a ton because the flight's short and the rest of the time will be keeping my granddaughter entertained.

message 374: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (anastasiaruff) | 2024 comments Kelly, you only need to read for one. I have read for 9. You need to choose 4 or 6 and Shan will take the other.

24. Magical Necklaces
description
In F. Paul Wilson’s 1984 novel The Tomb, the pair of cursed but magical necklaces is an ancient artifact linked to the powerful and malevolent force of the Sumar Empire.

These necklaces are imbued with supernatural energies that grant protection and power to their wearers, but at a steep cost. While they bestow abilities such as enhanced strength, resilience, or other mystical benefits, they also carry a dark curse, binding the wearer’s fate to the will of the empire’s lingering evil forces.

Wearing the necklaces ties the characters into an ancient struggle between good and evil, blending allure and danger. The necklaces symbolize a double-edged legacy: magical gifts that are inseparable from their sinister consequences, highlighting the novel’s themes of ancient curses and the perils of tampering with forbidden powers.

Complete the following tasks:

📿1. Read a chain of 3 books where a magical object is worn or carried
Necklaces, rings, bracelets, amulets, crowns — if it’s enchanted and portable, it counts.
(Bonus if someone regrets wearing it.)

⚔️4. Read a chain 3 books where good and evil are blurred or both sides are corrupted
If you're rooting for the villain, questioning the hero, or side-eyeing everyone, the necklace approves.

🔤6. Read a chain of 3 books where the author’s first and/or last name includes at least 3 letters from the word NECKLACE
(Bonus if it’s all 7 letters. Ultra cursed.)
