It means a book that is outside your normal reading, something that usually is unappealing to you. So, for example, I hate books with sports themes. So if one task said to read something with two brothers, I might decide to read a sports-themed book with two brothers.
Other examples are if you never read nonfiction you could use a book that is nonfiction for a task. It doesn't mean you have to use something you hate, but it needs to be outside your comfort zone. So you could choose a book that sounds kind of good but that you'd never normally read.
Does that make sense? I can give you more specific examples if you'd like.
Only one of your books each time needs to fit this rule but it must or you'll get a consequence. A bad one. :)
If you're non-competitive, you might not have to use Belle's rule though. You'll have to check the rules.

I already posted all of this in her thread when I posted her tasks.
Please, let the mods answer the questions. I know you are trying to help and you are correct with what you are saying. The only reason that I am asking is that we recently had an issue because one person was telling another "the rules" and she was wrong. But she insisted she was right and things got out of control. I would prefer if we just left the mods to monitor the rules for now. Again, thank you for trying to help and save us time. You are wonderful for even attempting to help us out. We really appreciate it.

It's okay! Our team was ready to appease Belle regardless, lol.

Hi - quick question. So I have a prompt looking for a white cover. This cover looks white to me, but tineye calls it gray. So can I use it for the prompt or does tineye have to agree?
Or, how about this one? Same issue.
I usually use tineye to get the %, not necessarily the cover. Personally, the top is white and the bottom is grey.
MN Lisa wrote: "I usually use tineye to get the %, not necessarily the cover. Personally, the top is white and the bottom is grey."Thanks Lisa! Yeah, that top one is my 1st pick since we have a BR for it and I was hoping it would work somewhere this month!
I'm so sorry, Donna, I know you're absolutely right. I'll refrain in the future. Thank you for being so nice about it!
Alyana wrote: "Hi, for an eye on the cover - this is just an eye? Or would you accept eyes as well?"
plurals are always fine...so multiples are allowed

For this one:14. Nightmare VHS Game (Atmosfear)
For the Level tasks, do we all have to do the same task or can we choose whichever one we want?
14. Nightmare VHS Game (Atmosfear)For 3 - Choose one:
Read a book with an eye on the cover.
Read a book with “eye(s), watch, vision, look, or see” in the title, subtitle, or series name.
Read a book where someone is being watched, followed, or surveilled.
Can it be watch within the title? The Death Watcher is the one I wanna use

No, you do not have to do the same task. You are all reading independently

I know, just meant cos it was within the word not on its own.
For Zuni, do we need to complete all of these tasks for step 1?Step One: Collect items for binding spell
Read a chain of 3 books with paper on the cover
Read a chain of 3 books with candles on the cover
Read a chain of 3 books with black covers (min 50%)
Read a chain of 3 books with a string on the cover or in the text
Read a chain of 3 books that start and end with a letter in BINDING OIL
Yes, you do. This game alternates with the toys. Some toys require more than others. You wouldn't want your spell to fail...
Besides, have you seen the movie? That little guy is terrifying.

For the task to read a book with "Dark" MPG... is that only Dark, or is Dark Romance, Dark Academia, etc allowed?

Any version will be allowed as long as Dark is in the MPG.

My rule of thumb is that if it doesn't change the meaning of the word, I don't care. A watcher is a person who watches so I will allow it.

Read a chain of 3 books with candles on the coverDoes it mean there has to be more than 1 candle? My first choice book only has 1 & I don't want to read it & then discover there needs to be more.

You are overcomplicated it. I don't care how many candles are on the cover as long as there are/is candles on the cover. One is fine.

Thanks for the reply. It was what I expected but I just wanted to be sure. It was a moot point anyway. I was so fixated on finding more birthday candles that I missed the cupcakes with candles on top.

For the Jumanji game, does each player roll for 3 tasks or does one player roll and we read one task each from the three?
Anastasia wrote: "For the Jumanji game, does each player roll for 3 tasks or does one player roll and we read one task each from the three?"
The team only submits once with 3 dice rolls. You will each read for one task.

Oh sweetheart, this is a glitch. This is NOT a separate book. It means that you have to stop reading what you are reading. Unless it fits the glitch also, you have to pick a new book. Whatever you read has to fit your current task AND the glitch. If you were lucky enough to finish your descent, you are safe. If not, you will have to change your book to fit both.

Oh I finished the books for our current task and the book that I just finished fits the glitch.
If you finished all three steps before the glitch was posted you don’t need to worry about it. Anyone who was still reading will need to change their book for the step they were working on.

The toymaster has said the game will end soon because it's November but does anyone know the exact date?
You have the option of playing noncompetitively
as a full team
2 player team (if someone decides they don't want to play but the rest want to continue)

It's important to ask questions if you don't know how to play. I would rather you ask than blindly assume you know.
