CJ | 620 comments The venomous lumpsucker is my favorite character so far.

LOL

Cheryl L | 415 comments Completely agree with CJ on that. 🐟

I generally enjoy scifi books about mass extinction caused by humans, but often, these books have a humans-get-whats-coming-to-them theme. I'm not sure that's where this one is going though. I'm about halfway through and emotionally invested in the Lumpsucker's well-being.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1908 comments I keep vacillating on whether I want to read this or not. Part of me does, but a big part is also screaming “Nooo too soon! Too real!! Too much!” And that part keeps winning so far.

Do it! It's satirical, so you can handle it. Plus it's full of fun animal facts.

I CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

(T_T)

FINE. I'll do it. I have a few others in line in front of it though.

Grasha | 1 comments I just want to live in the Hermit Kingdom - wait a minute, I already do!

Netanella | 389 comments The audioversion is doing a bang up job of Halyard's Aussie accent, imho.

I'm with CJ on the venomous lumpsucker. :)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1908 comments Welp, I’m now about 20% into this (decided to move it up ahead of my other BOTM) and it’s been predictably horrifying and surprisingly funny. Both have a vibe of “OMG WE’RE DOOMED BUT THE CONCERN IS ABOUT THE EBITDA FOR CASKETS”.

Figures. Humanity is the worst. 😬

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1908 comments I’ve finished now. That was… different.

April | 24 comments Netanella, awe, now i wish i could hear the audio version! Lol

I havent gotten too far. I think i may havs just gotten to the part that may explain some fear with the lumpsucker, but nothing too worrisome yet to have me much invested in the lumpsucker. I just reached the part when Halyard (view spoiler) so i think that will spell out the storys main crisis although what was that earlier about (view spoiler) How exactly is that related to our lumpsuckers? 🤔

Netanella | 389 comments April, that was (view spoiler)

Beth (rosewoodpip) | 2010 comments I'm some ways into chapter 2. It's a little squishier, and a lot more acidic than I typically go for. Corporate ghouls are getting a satiric roasting, so it's all good.

message 18: by Jen (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jen (jenthebest) | 522 comments Totally enjoying this

Meredith | 1819 comments My library hold finally came in, so I have just started and I'm liking things so far (only ~50 pages in).
