Request to add "Significant Tornadoes 1974-2022" by Thomas P. Grazulis
date
newest »

This is the updated version of the book, as you can see the books I added were "Significant Tornadoes 1680-1991" and "Significant Tornadoes 1880-1889", and this is "Significant Tornadoes 1974-2022". I can assure you that this is a new(ish) book.

Have you closed this request? This is a new book so the request shouldn't have been closed

That would be because it is a new book, not a new edition, but for some unknown reason the Tornado Project team gave this the same ISBN as a previous book published by Grazulis.

I wrote that because I was replying to your comments where you said "Have you tried searching...?" and "You have already added it to your personal shelf before making this request, so I have no idea why this is here.", as you were referring to his two prior Significant Tornadoes books, which is an easy mistake to make as these are all fairly niche books with very limited print runs. This is a seperate book (despite sharing an ISBN with another one of Grazulis's books as stated in my previous reply), but it is also an update to his previous Significant Tornadoes releases as it covers new years.
To summarise, this is a new book, yes it shares an ISBN with another one of Grazulis's books, no I don't know why it does but it does.
Now can you help me get this new book uploaded or not? Because currently I feel that this is wasting time for the both of us, as I'm not receiving any help with my valid request, and you're a volunteer (I'm guessing?) who clearly isn't understanding what is happening despite me trying to be as clear as possible, and I imagine that you are also busy sorting out other additions to the site.

Basically I just want to get this book added so that I can properly track my progress using the site/app that I've been using to track my reading for years, and also so that it is available for any future readers, and to make sure that Thomas Grazulis's author profile and bibliography is as accurate as possible.

* Description:
Significant Tornadoes 1974-2022 chronicles every "significant" tornado (F2 or EF2 and above) that has struck in the United States during those years. It lists the state where each tornado has hit, date, time, death and injury total, path length, and the F/EF scale rating. This is followed by a description of the event. We have gleaned information from NWS surveys, hundreds of journal papers, tv stations, online blogs and newspaper sites. The total descriptions add up to 6599 tornadoes, 702 pages, and 654 figures.
The "tornado outbreaks" section is small but very important. For the first time it defines an outbreak in a unique way. With its OIS (Outbreak Intensity Score) we will make it clear that the exact number of deaths has little meteorological importance. Surely we understand the tragic circumstances involved, no matter the number of people killed or injured. We will list those totals, but not use them in any calculation.
To understand how outbreaks are involved with climate change, the intensity estimate and season of the year are meteorologically the most important.
