I have a physical copy of Powerless, which I read thoroughly. I read Reckless on my computer-which was honestly a bit of a struggle, so I found myself not paying as much attention. I will not be reading fearless, so reckless is where I stopped.To be fair, one of the first series I ever read was Red Queen, and I couldn’t help but be annoyed about some striking similarities to Powerless. Putting that aside, the story felt a bit forced at times. It seemed like the Lauren tried to include as many popular tropes as possible, which I understand can be appealing, but cramming them all in made the story feel less natural. The scenes often felt constructed more for the sake of witty banter than genuine plot development..
There also appeared to be a few plot holes, and unfinished character developments, that pulled me out of the story. I can definitely see how others might enjoy it, there’s fast pacing and lots of drama. but for me, it felt somewhat overrated.
I love Powerless!!!! I read all the books (the trilogy and the novella) in just over a week! If you click on my profile, I update pretty frequently.
In all honesty, the banter in this series is impeccable. It's my home. I either was blushing because Kai's such a goddamn flirt, yelling at the book cause of reasons, or acting like Kai and Pae are idiots because of the banter!! It made me laugh, cry (y'all I was not okay after Powerless and Powerful), and giggle like a lovesick girl (I am one)... It's so good. So god read it now!!! ❤️❤️🥰
I LOVE Powerless sm!!!I think from best to worst it literally goes in timeline order: Powerless, Powerful, Reckless, Fearless. But I love them all... so I don't think there is a bad one!
I love the banter, the flirting from Kai, and Paedyn is such a cool character!!! Def read it

I regret reading it, and do not recommend.
So I personally didn’t like powerless especially bc Kai’s personality became watered down to being obsessed with pae, and overall the amount of time Kai has repeated certain phrases such as “you are my undoing” like cruel prince already did that. I felt like Lauren took every trope she like and shoved it to to one book (well 4) I think if she focused more on the Beaty of building relationships that don’t have incest or cheating (yes Kai and pae are cheating it’s a fact) the book could’ve been 10x better. From what I understand the plot is an exact copy of red queen and it’s sad that Lauren is getting all the hype when red queen was here first.
I actually loved Powerless and HATED Red Queen I don't know why but I think its cause I felt more connected to the Powerless character then I did the Red Queen characters, so idk, I also feel that whatever book series you read first you like better if that makes sense, like if you read Red Queen before Powerless you like it more... I don't really know that's just a theory. (I feel I should say that I only read the first book of Red Queen cause I just didn't like it. maybe they get better as you go along)
I read all of the powerless books, including the novella, and all I can say is that nothing was original and I found myself becoming increasingly annoyed with the author.Red queen is one of my all time favorite book series, so the fact that powerless was getting so much praise and attention as if there was nothing else like it made me furious.
It also copied the hunger games a lot, and a bunch of other books that I haven’t read yet.(but other ppl who have read them said it was way too similar to be a coincidence)
It felt more like fanfiction than an ORIGINAL literary piece.
The only good thing I can say is that the chemistry between Paedyn and Kai was nice, and the banter was very amusing. Those are the only two reasons I continued reading. Also, the only one that felt semi original was the novella called powerful.
In short, I would not under any circumstances recommend reading. And if I had my way it wouldn’t be so popular and it would be labeled under “mostly fanfiction”
All this being said, I mean no disrespect to the author or fans. I just have some opinions and grievances.

I only read the first book (am def going to continue the series) but it wasn't my favourite. I feel like it was a combination of a bunch of other books I read. Kai also wasn't my favourite. Don't get me wrong, I was obsessed with him for like a week, but then realized how creeped out I would be if someone acted like that irl
@Caroline When I was reading the first one I was like. “Huh this seems kind of like the hunger games?” And then afterwards I heard abt the supposed plagiarism and I was like “oh..” @marusa I thought it was still really good tho…I love Paedyn and Kai ❤️❤️ (Mostly Kai tho 🫦🫦) Imo, it’s definitely worth reading if you haven’t already!
i thought it could have been shortened tbh. i also wish we got to see more casual conversations between kai and paedyn instead of them flirting every chapter

I loved powerless. I sobbed during the third one. Kai is so amazing and such a poet 🫶🏻♥️
good book, however they said pretend 75 times in the second novel alone….. Also SSTOP WITH THE STICKEY BUNS AND HONEY 🍯

I cant get myself into the Fantasy Romance. I loved Twilight when i was younger, but i try and try and lose interest.
I have this series in my tbr. Hopefully I enjoy it and it opens the door to fantasy romance.

I LOVED POWERLESS. It was such a good series the first two books were the best and I LOVED the flirty banter between Kai and Paedyn, but in the third book is was like we get it you can’t live life without her calm down. But Kai is still the superior book boyfriend but I do agree that the series was unoriginal and obviously have copied parts from Red Queen and The Hunger Games, since I enjoyed both I didn’t really mind but I can understand how others are annoyed by it
