I always have a few going at once.. I used to see ppl with 7 or 8 in their currently reading list, and wonder how they do that? 😂 But now I keep 2 or 3 by my "cozy reading chair" & switch between depending on my mood; and I'm also a beta/arc reader so I always have an e version or two going from authors... sometimes one will stay in the list quite awhile if I'm having a hard time getting thru it. I try not to dnf any book but it sadly does happen every so often. Having it in that list helps me see that maybe it's been too long? 🫣 also updating progress helps my arc authors see how far I am daily. I guess I should have done a post about using the "currently reading shelf" 😂😂Liz🌷
Honestly, it depends on the book I just finished! 😄 If it left a big emotional impact, I usually need a little time to process before diving into the next one. But sometimes, especially if I’m on a roll or the next book is part of a series, I start reading almost immediately. 📚✨How about you? Do you jump right in, or take a breather between books?
Almost immediately! I read and listen so I download my next book and read it, but then continue listening on my way to work.
I can only read one book at a time, but I usually start a new book the same day I finish the last one unless I stayed up 1/2 the night to finish because it was that good.
Almost immediately after I finish and review the book and make notes so I can refer back later to see if I want to read it again.
I almost never read more than one book at a time. I need to invest into the plot and characters first. Unless I DNF or really need to reread a book to get me back in the mood then yes ( if you consider that). Depends how long the book is , normally about 5 days maybe. Right now I am reading ACOMAF and it is literally the longest book I have read . This is going to take a lot longer than my normal read but hope the book can hook me enough to get through about 630 pages...
Immediately. Sometimes, I’m in the middle of several. Try not to do this, but have so many to Read and Review, just finished 3, and have 1 left for today. Then, on to Libby where I have Audiobook to Listen to and Excited to Start The First Time I Saw Him by Laura Dave. A Sequel to The Last Thing He Told Me
When I’m on a strong reading phase, I usually have more than one book on the go, so no breaks in between UNLESS I’ve read an emotionally heavy book. In that case, I may need time to recover.
Ideally, immediately upon finishing the last one. I can't bear to be too conscious of real life for any length of time at the moment. 😅
Immediately. I usually have three or even more books going at the same time (I know, I’m definitely weird one). Usually one audiobook (what I listen while running or travelling), one slow-paced book that I read occasionally like evenings ... (often something about self-improvement, business, or a classic historical stuff...), and one book that I use purely for escapism, usually fantasy or scifi...
If I’m in a reading phase I immediately look for my next read, pick it up as an ebook or pick one of my own books. But if I’m in a slump I wait a day or two max before picking a book up.
Immediately. I try to get my next several reads figured out ahead of time. Like right now I’m going back and forth between two series’ and throw in a few standalones
I mostly listen to audio books because I am in my car all day for work, so I have the max books on my hold list so my next book is ready to listen to as soon as I'm done with a book.
I pick up the next book as soon as I've finished the last one. I read every night and other times when I have time. I especially love reading when I'm on a beach. I can usually get through 5 or 6 books per week.
It depends sometimes I will go right into another book if I am really excited about it but other times I will take a break!
It depends on how strong the previous book was. Something like Napalm in the Heart keeps the momentum going — the writing is so clean you want to pick up the next one straight away. Then you get the ones that fall flat and make you question your reading choices for a moment.”
It depends on the book. I usually start right after I finish a book, but sometimes I just have to digest the book I just read.
