message 53: by Rachel Mularz (new)

Rachel Mularz | 2 comments As soon i as finish. Also depends on time of day.

message 54: by Lilly (new)

Lilly Britting | 7 comments It depends. If the book had a lot of plot twists or big meanings about a day or two. If it's a series I have access to- however many minutes it takes for me to find the next book. But for going from standalone to standalone probably a few hours to a day,

message 55: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannxm) | 3 comments Either within a couple of hours or the next day. Depends on when I finish it and whether I want to write a review.

message 56: by Shifa (new)

Shifa | 4 comments It depends on the previous book I have read. If it's a series, I start straightaway..

message 57: by Wyetha (new)

Wyetha (wyesreads) | 228 comments I start my next book within about a day, but I'm always reading two simultaneously.

message 58: by Jim (new)

Jim | 7 comments Usually right-of-way-especially if it is,a series. If it is a series, I usually have the next one on my kindle or buy it right away. Some times it will take ne about 30 minutes to pick the next one if it isn't a series.

message 59: by Cristal (new)

Cristal real fast. if I enjoy the book; I typically finish it within 2 days; 3 days at most and I give myself I day or two off and go onto the next!

message 60: by Robin (new)

Robin | 4 comments I read multiple books simultaneously...

message 61: by Christine (new)

Christine | 93 comments If I finish an audiobook, by the time I get home. I won't start a new one until the next morning. If I finish my physical/ebook at the end of the night, again I will wait till the next day. But if it is the weekend, as soon as I finish, i will start a new one.

message 62: by Sarah Lehman (new)

Sarah Lehman (sdelgado8404) | 116 comments It depends on what time it is when I finish. Most of the time, that same day. If it's late, then the next day

message 64: by J (new)

J M Notter | 4 comments I always keep ONE day of respect šŸ™

message 65: by Taryn (new)

Taryn (wearywanderer) | 8 comments I usually begin reading the next book on my tbr immediately, but depending on the intensity of the book before it, it might be a completely different genre.
For example, if I finish a horror novel that was pretty spooky, I'll start up either a fluffy romance novel, or something humorous.

Aditi ~ readwaditi (readwaditi) | 66 comments a day or two after

message 67: by Anita (new)

Anita Kyne | 22 comments Zero time. I read at least 2 books at a time. Right now I’m reading 4.

KittyLoves2Escape | 76 comments The next day:)

I like to reflect on the previous book before jumping into the next, especially if I select a different genre, (i.e. finish a thriller- next read magical-realism)

KittyLoves2Escape | 76 comments Wow! That’s a lot to read at one time:)

message 70: by WILMA (new)

WILMA BROWN | 15 comments When I finish one, I pick up another one. I buy books at really low-priced thrift stores I always have at least 20 books on hand

message 71: by Barry (new)

Barry | 17 comments within a couple of hours at most , usually.

message 72: by Raven (new)

Raven Grant | 11 comments usually immediately unless I have to process some of the content especially when it is heavy subject matter

message 73: by PJ (new)

PJ | 6 comments usually straight away

message 74: by Malakai (new)

Malakai W. | 14 comments My next visit to the local library, so typically around a week.

message 75: by East of Reality (new)

East of Reality (tamberleigh) | 13 comments It depends on if it's a great book, an okay book, or a terrible book. Terrible books, I'll pick up a new one instantly; a good book, probably the next day. A great book might take me a few days to get over the hangover.

message 76: by sarah (new)

sarah | 288 comments Oh it takes me a while to get my head out of the last book, then another little bit to find the nxt good book. Maybe a month or less.

vivi ą±Øą§Ž (cigsaftervivi) | 11 comments This is such a good question ngl!

ā€ Tia ā€ (tiajoanne) | 4 comments I used to have to wait at least a day or so. I always felt it was somewhat disloyal to jump straight into a new book immediately after finishing a good book, like I wasn't appreciating the book enough. šŸ˜‚

But recently I've been starting new books the same day, often within a few hours – as long as I'm not busy.

message 79: by Eli (new)

Eli | 69 comments Like right away, I try to read 2-7 at once

message 80: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Hultman | 4 comments Immediately!

message 81: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (maggierosereads) | 3 comments I read and listen to multiple (fiction, nonfiction and graphic) at the same time so I begin another immediately into rotation. Some are book clubs or work related, some get bumped into the queue.

message 82: by gracie!! (new)

gracie!! | 5 comments immediately!!

heav (hamilton’s version) (judesduartes) | 23 comments i’m glad this is still getting answers and i love everyone’s dedication to reading :) unfortunately i’m now in a reading slump and i haven’t been able to start a new book immediately after the other :(

to answer the question above, it just depends on how i’m feeling! i have no preference. i mostly read romances though, so its usually back to back. i only switch to a different genre when i start to feel a genre slump or i’m just in the mood for something else!

message 84: by maz ā˜€ļø (new)

maz ā˜€ļø | 4 comments i am a notorious book hopper. i go straight into my next read

message 85: by Malissa (new)

Malissa (malissa1578) | 163 comments That depends on when I finish the book. If it's an audiobook during the day while I am working, I will generally pick one right away. If it is in the evening or at night and I finish the book I am reading, than I might wait until the next night to pick another book to read. I also generally have multiple books I am reading and one I am listening to, so I might just switch to one I am already reading.

message 86: by Madly Jane (new)

Madly Jane (madlyjane) | 13 comments I read more than one book at a time. But I read back to back when I change. I don't read a lot of fiction at one time. But I am always reading nonfiction, all the time. I never stop. Unless I take a vacation. I don't read while traveling at all.

message 87: by Sydney (new)

Sydney Saad | 9 comments I’ll typically start reading a new book the next day after I finish one, or sometimes immediately after I finish a book.

SOFIAā¤ļø | 2 comments After I finish a book I take time to process the book I finished and then after I take my next read

message 89: by Mary (new)

Mary Keating | 2 comments I read several books at the same time, so there's never any time I'm not reading something. I read a lot of poetry books which you can't finish reading before you start another. Then you may only read a book a year. 😊
Right now I'm trying to finish "The View From Lake Como" but just can't get into it. I find the writing uneven and at times cliche. It's taking too much time to set the stage, reminding me of a Henry James novel.

message 90: by Dr. Nic Reads (new)

Dr. Nic Reads (drnic08) | 4 comments It depends, but most of the time I can start the next book immediately!

message 91: by amber (new)

amber | 4 comments it depends on the book! if i really loved it i’ll need at least a night to sleep on it. if the book was just okay though, i can probably move on in the same day.

message 92: by Megan (new)

Megan (megmez) | 38 comments Ooo good question! It depends! But usually later that day, once I've soaked up the ending, especially if it's one that left me reeling.
