This was a wonderful collection of short stories, each narrated from the point of view of a wild animal. The version I read also held an afterword from the author describing where she got her inspiration for the stories.

My favorite was the story of a wounded pigeon who's taken to a charity bird hospital to get better. That story was so hopeful and sweet.

I had just one complaint (view spoiler)[the narrator dies in most of the stories. I started to brace myself at the beginning of each story, knowing the ending would make me sad. (hide spoiler)] Still, I really enjoyed these stories.

I had this on my TBR, and now it is not there. I must have taken off during one of my rare "cannot sleep, let's clean the book-house". It is back on now.

I loved this collection. There was something about the quality of the writing that struck me as very original.
