Sarah | 5 comments Hey everyone! Im in the middle of pretty frustrating reading slump and was hoping to hear how others deal with this.
Its not like I havent picked up a good book- in fact, the one im currently reading is actually quite decent. But no matter how how good it is, I just cant seem to get into it. I have zero motivation to read, I keep putting it down after a few pages. What have helped you get out of it? Hope im not alone in this

Sherryl | 1 comments I will find a good short novella and that would put me out of a reading slump 😊

Valeria✨ (_valeria_m) | 68 comments I'm in a bit of a slump myself right now, I usually let it be🤣 Nothing really gets me out of it, if I don't have motivation then I don't have it, a few times I got out of it by finding very unique books, but that was accidental 🤣😭

Janae | 7 comments I was in a reading slump for almost a year and the only book what got me out of it was blood of my monster it was perfect

Whispers & Pages | 23 comments I tend to get tired of reading every now and then. When that happens I tend to switch to audio books. Listening rather than reading myself feels easier especially when I feel very stressed out, tense and it's hard for me to focus on anything really.
Also, reading long series exhausts me and whenever that happens I'll refrain from starting another series. I'll change to reading standalones and I switch between genres a bit.

Nadja ♡ (th3secrethistory) | 36 comments I go for a shorter book, anything under 300 pages is good. It doesn't necessarily have to be good, it just has to be addictive enough for me to finish it

Hailey T | 11 comments I also find a shorter book with tropes I love the most, but the book has to be shorter for sure I need something quick

Nimi (Warner's Wife ) | 15 comments novellas sometimes work for me, but sometimes nothing works at all. 😭😂

I'm in a reading slump right now, and I don't have any motivation to read. I picked up only two books last month, and it took 10 working business days to finish one. I can't even say if it was me THE PROBELM or the book. 😬

Sarah | 5 comments Thank you all for your experiences !! I finally got out of that block (thank you very much That Sik Luv🤭)

Bran | 6 comments Usually when I feel that way I’ll download something on my kindle that comes with an audio book & listen to that from my phone while I follow along on my kindle. Usually after one book that way I’m out of my slump.

Angie (on trip through Europe) (chocomademoiselle) | 17 comments Glad to see you're already out of it! 💖 But just in case besides doimg what other ladies do by picking a shorter read, I also try to make it into the actual full on vibe of the book I'm taking at the time and making it a full on experience.
You know, choosing a particular spot in the house to read that particular book, with particular clothes/music/drink, like choosing to be more within the atmosphere that I think suits my read. 🌼 Helps to get more involved with it and if the read is not one of the best-best helps to make it still way more enjoyable!

Karen Denise Foster | 148 comments Been watching the remarks here and they are all very helpful. I am also in a reading slump. Not because I haven't read some really good books. I have had a number of 5 stars lately. But I need a tear jerker right now. Crazy as it sounds, when I need a good cry, and I do right now for various reasons, I usually can't do it without the help of a good book or movie. And I am having a hard time finding that really great story that will also have me in tears, releasing emotions I am having trouble releasing right now. Any book suggestions? I love dark, mafia, age-gap, enemies-to-lovers, trafficing, kidnapping, (no "daddy" or animal abuse, child abuse only in the past so we know why the character is broken), stalker, serial killer, or contemporary. I need the FMC to be broken down and then built back up by the MMC who finally realizes her worth. Suggestions appreciated.

Valeria✨ (_valeria_m) | 68 comments Karen Denise Foster, I would say try the Enslaved series by Ella Jacobs, the fmcs are quite literally broken down and then build up by the mmcs as the books are about trafficking, but I would say the only sad one in particular is the third one. If you wanna cry I'd say The edge of darkness trilogy, it's so very emotional I was crying my way through the second book 😭🖤

A | 8 comments Switch genre, dnf if im not liking the book or shorter ones.

Annika | 20 comments Slumps are the worst. It’s usually where I Dnf the most books. Recently I have asked a friend in GR to pick a palate cleanser for me. I tell them my mood and they give me two choices. It works best when you know each a little. But I never fails. Because when I know some else adores it, I try harder to find the good in that book too. Does that make sense? Tell me you too 5 books and might be able to make a few suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have read the Edge of Darkness series by Leigh Rivers. Is that the one you are suggesting?

As for Ella Jacobs. She's really good, however, the two books I have read by her blew up in the end with the FMC not having a HEA or HFN. Does the Enslaved series have a good ending. I love the fight up to the end, darker the better, but I definitely need a good ending for the FMC, especially right now.

Angel (Bradford) Tweed | 9 comments when I start reading a book and I started to lose interest I take a few days away from it and then I come back to it and it usually helps that's what I do anyway

Valeria✨ (_valeria_m) | 68 comments Karen Denise Foster I was indeed talking about The edge of darkness by Leigh Rivers 🥰 As for the happy endings in the Enslaved series, for me the fmcs did get happy endings, however a happy ending for me and for someone else might be different 🤣 If you mean a happy ending as in the fmc gets revenge or fights or something like that then no, but if you mean if they are happy in the end of the book then yes. But again, I don't think you would cry on the first two books, maybe the third one but I can't guarantee that either😅 And I'm curious which were the books by Ella Jacobs that you read that blew up in the end👀 I've only read the Enslaved series by her so far so I'm curious what her other books have in store😅🖤

Laila | 4 comments Short books with a ton of spice that usually does it for me but I also don’t force myself to read more than I feel like. At the end of the day it’s a hobby and you need to enjoy it 😊

Hi. I have read In His Cage and Delivered To The Devil. The writing in both was excellent, but the ending for me didn't do it. You can read my reviews to see why I felt that way. Both could have been 5 star reads with a better ending. A lot of readers like these books and have no issue with the endings. At one point I probably wouldn't have either, but I just need more hope now. One of the reasons I read what I do is I like to see the FMC broken down and then she gets built back up. Gives me the dark I like and the hope I need. You might like both of these, not sure what you think of as an HEA or HFN.

Valeria✨ (_valeria_m) | 68 comments Karen Denise Foster yep those are books by her I wanna read, I'll go check your reviews to see your reasons but I suppose I'll understand you best after I read them 😆🖤
