I have a fondness for time travel books. This one is more of a time loop. At the beginning a tragic event happens to Thomas in high school. After that, his life is never very good, leading to his suicide at age 55. But instead of dying, he wakes up back in high school with a chance to do things over. But can he change the past? I'm fine with this premise, but then it gets sidetracked with a serial killer (never a trope I like.) And the character is inconsistent. As an adult, he can see through the ridiculous posturing of high school cliques, and he knows that for many of the "cool kids" this is the pinnacle of their lives. On the other hand, he makes some impulsive decisions that make no sense with an adult brain.

There are two sequels but I don't plan to continue the series.
