I remember plot-wise that the MC was female, with high-ranking family, maybe aristocracy. They could live under giant trees and the rest of the planet/land was dead but I'm not sure about this detail. The MC was sent to some sort of monastery, where she had to climb up many, many stairs and was yelled up by a sort of a nun(?) for using handrail. In monastery she made nemesis that later in the book had half of her face burned off. There was also some sort of magic sword MC found in said monastery. Some of the 'nuns' were called 'combatants', I have vague memory of MC being beaten up with a stick or a staff during 'training'.
The book was probably YA and fantasy, I don't remember any romance in it.

Hi, I've read it in Polish, but I'm pretty sure it was translated from English
