We have been dealing with loss of a loved one these past 2 weeks... and other life curve balls.. But, we're getting through it. Determined to get to the other side. Together🤍

I have a 5yr (b) and a 3yr (f) and they are both absolutely feral children, and dare-devils and going to give me a heart attack most days but some of the stuff they do 🤣 glad today was good though for you. I'm in the UK and this heat is making my kids worse than normal.
@Dave i don't know how u do it with 4 boys! and sorry the bugs going around... kids pick up everything from school/nursery dont they!

Nya - Sad to hear about you're loss 😔some of us care deeply for others ( even people we've just met) and empathy can be overwhelming at times. They say time heals. While I agree with this to a point, time cannot fill a void of a loved one passing (in my experience anyway) My heart goes out to you and your family ♥️

I'm thankful I have 3 that are not batshit crazy!!! 😆 It's all good fun though. It's a happy, loving, crazy household! Wouldn't have it any other way.

I've found myself in a book challenge situation in another group and have basically been reading my life out lol, but it's keeping me distracted from the state of the world so I'm grateful.

should get that printed on a t-shirt... books are life....Im hoping we will start some challenges in her at some point, ive seen one that a group thing of reaching a million words all together... so every book you read, you log and add the wordcount and then we tally it up until we reach a million??

They call it a relay race in the group I'm on. We've literally done a million pages in the first half of the year and now onto the second million. There's also a tower team challenge situation, I'd be lying if said I completely understand what it is lol, but basically the moderators create mini tasks and we read for them as a group. This is done from May till August, there's a whole excel sheet and captains and stuff. I believe it's for a large group of people anyway.
So it's called tower teams because the groups are in the form of towers ( Pisa, Burj Khalifa, CN tower and so on).
But I'll be in the lookout for something fun and appropriate for this group

It's another site where you set up a free account, locate your fave authors or authors you'd like to try out.. Add them to your favorites list on the account you create.. Just make sure you set up your notifications for authors you want to know who are giving books free or having a sale on their books. It's a really great site, I like it.

~This is a refresher update for everyone regarding new and old site issues on the platform that you may or may not be aware of..A few big GR site glitch updates..
~Wondering what to do when your notifications stop working?? This is for Members on the GR site as well as fellow Moderators. *PLEASE READ TO BE INFORMED*
The best thing you can do at this point, is go to your group's homepages to see all new posts to ensure you don't miss any new ones or new threads being created in your groups. I cannot rely on that notifications bell to tell me everything for my groups, or all of my personal activity. It's dropped the ball plenty of times on that for me. Even though I also have my profile set up to receive all notifications for my groups that I moderate and are just a member of.
There is also another glitch floating around since late Nov 2024-Your icons at the top of your profile not indicating that you have new msgs, friend request and emails. So, you have to get into the habit of actually clicking on these icons yourself, to make sure you do not in fact have an update in there waiting for you. This does not happen all of the time, but it does happen often enough that you need to just get into the habit of doing it.
Also, as fickle as they can be, it's still best that you and your members continue to make sure that you are checking those notify me boxes in every thread you follow or post in. And every time you post a review or when someone likes an old review of yours, make sure you check the box on that old review too.
Basically, wherever you can leave a comment on this site, be aware that someone can also leave a response to it for you, and if you don't want to miss that, just make sure you check that notify me box wherever you post anything. I also had to go to all my photos on here and check that box as well, in case someone leaves a comment on them so I can see it.
And new-semi glitch- GR is no longer recognizing your last activity on the site properly. This started back in June of 2024. If you are not logging in and out every time you come to the site, it will begin to only show the last time you actively logged in on your profile.
So, say you logged in back in Sept 2024, but never physically logged back out. Even though you've been current and active on the site, your profile will say last activity "Sept 2024".. and then after 60 days, it will begin to show this same info next to your profile pic on the group's homepage in the Moderator section, in the groups you moderate. Therefore, making your members or new members or other GR members think you haven't been on the site for months, when you actually have been... So, if you don't already do this, never leave yourself logged onto this website on ANY device you use to utilize GR. Always log on and log off when you're done. You'd be surprised at how many people don't do this, and now it's showing up on their profiles and they're freaking out thinking it's a major glitch when it's actually not.
Hope all this helps... If you've done all these steps above, you should be okay for the "New Normal" we're all currently living with on this site. If it's still a major issue for you, in getting notifications, I'm afraid the only thing you can do is go to tech support/helpdesk... But I'm not sure at how much help they'll actually be.

I've tried The StoryGraph which is great but it's not easy finding reviews or friends. You're completely relying on the app's recommendations

I made my own 🤣 DNF folder... anything i stop reading, goes in there... never write a review for it, as normally try at least a second time to get through it...BUT they should defo put a legit one in

Hey lovely, I just wanted to apologise for not being very active in the group lately. My back pain has made things difficult and I’ve been going through a bit of a low period.It’s also led me into a reading slump and a bit of a depressive spell that I’m slowly trying to work my way out of. You’d think with all the time sitting still I’d be reading more, but right now it’s been hard to focus.
I just thought it was important to let you know where I’m at. 💛

I apologies for being slightly inactive this week, had a massive health issue that grow a third head this last week so been dealing with that and the children, who are feral in all honesty.
