Robert II | 4 comments I realize I'm likely courting a scandal by even mentioning this author (that seems to be the inevitable result of mentioning his work anywhere), but I was curious if anybody here is familiar with the works of an author named Ruprecht Wachter. He's a Scripture-based writer of what I guess you'd call... "unorthodox relationship manuals."
While his views are contrary to a lot of Christendom (and one of his books is openly anathematic according to a 16th century Papal declaration at Trent), I mention him because he's EXTREMELY diligent about backing up his points with citations of Scripture, which seems to have been done in most of his books as a way to pre-emptively head-off inevitable allegations of heresy.

Anyone familiar with him?

They're not. I said they were contrary to a lot of what is taught in Christendom, and he makes several points that the Catholic Church openly considers anathematic. His entire premise in most cases is "here is what your Church taught you and here is what the Bible actually says. Decide for yourself whether you serve God or man." He spends a lot of time going back to Hebrew and Greek originals in the process of supporting his points. The only point of contention is, as I said, he flies right in the face of what is taught from a lot of pulpits. But then again, so did Elijah and John the Baptist.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone has read any of his three (or apparently now four) books.
