Looking for a Dystopian Novel - Can Anyone Help Identify This Book?
I'm trying to find a dystopian novel I read several years ago (possibly around 2009-2010) with these distinctive elements:
**Setting:** A dystopian society where people live in small apartments and are continuously monitored. Citizens are required to stream their private lives, and births must be filmed and published online.
**Plot Elements:** - The main character tries to find a way to illegally vaccinate his newborn daughter against measles, which is forbidden in this society - He connects with an underground resistance group that shows him books about life before an apocalyptic event - When his daughter survives a measles pandemic, authorities begin tracking him - The protagonist falls in love with a woman who turns out to be an undercover agent working for the authorities - She betrays him to the government
**Ending:** The story culminates with the protagonist being publicly crucified upside down. Before his death, he manages to send a message asking sympathizers to come to his execution with protest boards/signs. As he's dying, he sees many people in the crowd holding these signs.
**Book Cover:** I believe the cover featured an upside-down cross.
**Publication:** The book was in English potentially published in the US. I read it in Malta Europe.
If anyone recognizes this book from these details, I'd be extremely grateful! It's a powerful story that has stayed with me, but I can't remember the title or author.
