Okay, so at the moment I am reading my first fantasy this year (I only started in March) and I would really recommend so far, it is called Skandar and the UNICORN THIEF. It is the first in a series

"Southern Vampire Mysteries" series of novels, also known as the "Sookie Stackhouse Novels," written by Charlaine Harris. Start with “Dead Until Dark”. I promise you will NOT regret it and you can search which of your local libraries carries the entire series but you can find it at ANY public library — most likely! =D
