srta.dalloway | 324 comments Hi there! The publisher site or Amazon don't give any information related to the page count of some ebooks, so I wonder what to do? Is there any way to add it? Are the screenshots of our e-readers (kindle, kobo, etc.) a valid source in these cases?

Thank you in advance!

Scott | 8536 comments For Kindle, the page count should match what is shown on its Amazon page.

For other e-book formats, consult the publisher's page.

Screenshots from e-readers are no good since the page count can change depending on each user's personal settings.

But how about those publishers that don't have this information on their websites?

I only found this in the rules:

Most ebook formats do not have a fixed number of pages since the pagination adjusts for screen size. If the publisher provides a specific page count, that number should be reflected in our book data. For PDF-specific editions, or any other fixed page ebooks, the normal paging rules may be used.

If the publisher does not provide a page number, you may estimate the page count using a tool such as Calibre's Count Pages plugin. Be sure to leave a librarian note that this is an estimate and that the page number should be changed if the publisher releases a specific page count.

I guess so too, haha. But the thing is that I have resquested to add some ebooks that don't have any page count info on ther publishers' sites and when adding them the Librarians didn't add a number of pages... so who should use these tools to estimate the page count, can I and show it as a source?

Scott | 8536 comments It would be on the requesting user (who presumably has the e-book) to use the page count tool.
