Tomasz Tatar | 5 comments The story period seems to be late XIX or early XX century. The protagonist has two personalities, one of which is dreamed. In one he is a well-to-do teenager, perhaps an aristocrat, in the other he is an apprentice to a shoemaker who is mistreated and bullied by older journeymen. Each personality thinks the other is a dream. They are equally not sure which personality is real. Not sure if I remember correctly or made this up but eventually well-to-do one decides to find second one.

I've read it in late 1980s or early 1990s.

Tomasz, is this a fantasy novel for kids, teens or adults?

Story's location/ country?

Tomasz Tatar | 5 comments No, it’s not fantasy. World is real, only this dual personality is supernatural. I don’t know exact location - Europe or North America. It felt like early capitalism - poor workers and rich aristocracy.

I think it’s for teens but not sure - maybe for adults as well but style is light. I haven’t read whole book - only what I described and it’s about 2 chapters - rather scene setting.

Becca (beccalikesbooks) | 5545 comments I notice that you're in Poland - did you read it in Polish, or English, or another language?

Tomasz Tatar | 5 comments Hi. I read it in Polish. My impression (not exact memory) is that the story location was not in Poland though.
