I started last night and am about 20% in. I feel like we missed some relationship building and business destruction. But I’m totally stumped on this mystery.

I'm not quite as far as you, only about 15%. I'm not confused about the relationship or business...??
Its intriguing (view spoiler). I can't wait to see what happens.

I read a bunch yesterday. I think I’ve figured it out. (view spoiler). I wasn’t confused about the relationship or business, just that I felt like big events took place during the time jump.
The relationship between these 2 is so interesting. It’s an intense way to develop a couple, with the mysteries and all of Diem’s extreme baggage. I’m not sure I’d have Tallus’ patience.
It’s also really interesting to see them develop outside of Toronto and their usual support system. This is my favorite of the series.
There's just something about Diem that I just love. He tugs at my heartstrings. If only he could let his internal dialogue out with Tallus, he'd be all set. :)

You're wrong. It definitely looks like it could be going in that direction (I thought so too), but it doesn't.
