[OPEN] Wrong cover image

Hi!
I added this request to another - description correction - request (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...), but only now realised there's a seperate part for cover requests.

So, the current cover on Goodreads is the one coming from the hardcover edition of the book, but since the Goodreads entry concerns the Dutch paperback, the correct cover would be this one:

It is possibly just an earlier version. We do not change covers on paperback editions. If the cover version you want is not yet on Goodreads you can submit a request at 'adding new books and editions'

Hi Martin, thanks for your reply. I'm okay with adding a new edition, but in fact it's not an earlier version. All information added to the current Goodreads entry is coming from the paperback edition, except the cover. (Compare for example: https://www.deslegte.com/de-tocht-van...)

The hardcover edition, which was released in 1996, has a different ISBN as well. See https://www.deslegte.com/de-tocht-van... for more information on that one:

So what should I do:
1) request a change of the information of the current Goodreads-entry so that it matches the information of the hardcover release (and thus the cover), which would mean a change of publication date and ISBN.
2) change the cover of this paperback entry of the book here on Goodreads and add the hardcover release as a new edition

So that would mean to accept the fact that both the ISBN, the publication date and the format of the current entry are wrong and submit a request for a new entry with the ISBN, publication date and format of the current entry, but a different cover?

Doesn't really make sense imho, because there will not only be a wrong entry, but also no hardcover entry at all (which would be both fixed in option 2) but if that's the way to go, I'll go that way. Thanks.

How can we prove current details are wrong? Books are often issued with different covers whilst retaining the same ISBN, release dates can be confused if they are not given clearly inside the book.

Hey Martin, in that way I guess you're right, it's hard to prove. I own the paperback version. That one says: 'first print 1996, second print 2000'. With the first print being the hardcover, having another ISBN, and the second print being the paperback one that I own. But my paperback only show it's own ISBN, not the hardcover one.

Apart from the links to more detailed information about the books I added to my previous post, I found another one mentioning both releases; it's from the Belgian library.
