Lyra Warner | 3 comments My memories of this book are very vague and are basically just the cover art and the main characters personality.

2017-2018

The cover featured a tall girl seated on a stool next to a stack of books with a cup of tea on top. This may have been the other way around, where the tea was on the stool and the girl was on the books, but I can’t fully remember which one is the real one. (Minor detail that I may be misremembering but — I thought the girl on the cover looked like Kim Possible a bit).

As for the main character, I never got far in the book because I wasn’t very adamant about reading when I was younger. The main character was an extremely intelligent girl who’d remark on her inferior classmates and family members; I remember a very specific comment she made about how she only watched PBS while other students watched cartoons that made them dumber. This ties into the cover art since the books symbolized her accumulated smarts.

Super vague description I know —this was in an elementary school library so keep that age demographic in mind. I just remembered this and it has been bugging me ever since. Hope to see some leads!

This book is elementary/middle grade, and sort of follows your description if it was photographed cover. It is a bit of an older book though.

She's sitting on books here: Matilda by Roald Dahl

On a box next to a stack of books here: Matilda by Roald Dahl

There are hundreds of editions and lots of them have books and a girl on the cover. A big deal is made of the fact that she likes to read but the whole rest of her family, including her parents, only want to watch television and think Matilda is quite odd.
