I think the line between being retarded and very creative on how the people live these days is very thin.
I picture a scene where Kafka went to a bar with his friends and made a joke to his buddies saying that he felt like he was actually kind of an animal. They laughed a lot. After that, Kafka went home and started working on his book (and the story started to make sense).
This book became such a big hit because it's universal. We’ve all had those moments where we do something so absurdly dumb that even an animal would probably judge us.
I guess that's life.
