A librarian screwed up and deleted the original publication dates and default descriptions from two books on my shelves (this is something that happens unfortunately often). One of those books has had multiple editions published by multiple publishers. Should the default description be set to the description from the first edition (even though it's out of print) or from the newest edition of the book?

At the moment I believe it is discretionary - & I believe it should stay that way. ATM I am reading a book which has a minor spoiler in the description. Unfortunately a librarian has checked the option for the default to go on all editions - including the foreign language ones.

I rarely find 'set this as the default description' option useful & only use it if there is just one edition with different formats - all in one language.

This often happens when combining editions and will usually not be noticed.
