What the River Knows

Rating (3) ⭐⭐⭐
Review: There was a lot going on in this book. I feel like there were too many people that I wasn't able to keep track of. Inez's mom is a ROYAL P.O.S. and I hope she dies being eaten by a Nile Crocodile in the second book. I was annoyed with Witt the entire time, and feel like poor Inez was being played for a fool…especially that epilogue! I might read book two to find out what other foolishness this poor girl finds herself in.

Option 1
9. A wedding is generally a pretty expensive event

Review: Innocent, shy Helen is shocked by her first kiss from her fiance and retires to her room. Her sister-in-law breaks the engagement. But Helen did not want that or anyone sheltering her and making her decisions. She determines to turn a new leaf and approaches her gruff fiance who is a rags to riches Welshman and reset the engagement. She vows to always be direct and honest with him and asks him to do the same and not to accept anyone speaking for her. This puts them back on course and learning how to communicate. This is important because Helen finds out some of her history that will affect their relationship. There are also commerce vs society feuds that come into play. As usual I really enjoyed this authors work. Looking forward to the rest of the books in this series.

Review
This is the 1st in the Summer series and centers around “Belly” who spends every summer at Cousins Beach with her mum, her mum’s best friend and her sons. This is a coming of age novel where we get glimpses of previous summers and the relationship between Belly, Jeremiah and Conrad and how those relationship has changed as they each have to deal with not only the hormones of teens growing up but also the emotional turmoil that surrounds there home life. I did find this a bit predictable but would go on to read the next to see what happens

I just realized today is Thursday... I better finish it quickly.

Someone Else's Shoes by Jojo Moyes
Date read: 26.5.25
Pages: 438
Rating: 3*
How it fits: Wealthy character mentioned in the blurb
Review: This was a book of three half’s. First 50% was good. The next 40% was slow then last 10% was good. Jojo moyes generally are a hit or miss for me. I liked parts of it, but found Nishas spoiled ways because of having money off putting, my favourite character was Sam’s friend Andrea. Although she’s going through something she’s a very good loyal friend.

Book: The Kiss Quotient
Rating: 👓👓👓👓👓
Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was equal parts sweet, funny, and heartbreaking. Michael and Stella were wonderful characters that fully complemented each other.

Option 1
4. Music is played ~ before, during or after
Read a book with an MC who is a musician or music composer/lyricist. Not a poet.
Qualification must be found on Goodreads and come from the book's main page, a list or shelf/tag.
Tags such as music, musician, singer, composer, rockstar will work. These tags MUST be in context. The tag 'artist' will not work on its own. Combo tags such as 'arts-music-writing' or 'rockstar-actor- famous' will not work as they are too broad.
Please ask in the Q&A if you aren't sure or if the qualification is borderline.

Midnight Stage

Rating (4) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review: This is a 4 star plus book, however because of the super heavy content I had to drop a star. This is a super fast read and I really enjoyed it. I think rockstar romance is a new favorite I didn't know I needed in my life.

Review: I disliked how this one started off with all of the I love you/I hate you vibes at the beginning of the book. That being said, I fell like the book really took off and I read through this one very quickly. I loved the ending even though I thought part of it seemed a bit rushed. Everything wrapped up nicely, if a bit overly optimistic.
