Review:
I'm completely blown away by how great Louise Bay's An American in London is! An unapologetic mélange of every trope under the sun, and the MCs joke about it the whole way through. I loved the fun, the romance, the humor, and the fascinating characters.
Louise Bay writes beautifully, and they paint such vivid pictures of the London sites and the English people. From the slightly abrasive barista to the stuffy Duke with a huge soft spot for his vivacious Dutchess, Bay nails these characters and makes the whole novel come alive.
Told from Tuesday's point of view, we really get to know her and I was genuinely plugging for her happily ever after in life and love!
The audio version of An American in London is beautifully performed by Erin Mallon who really had her plate full with this extensive cast! Whan an excellent job they did on this book.

I did really love my book from last week - gave it 5 stars, if anyone wants a really lovely romance.

Book: The Diamond King: A Tale of Love, Hate, and Diamonds

Review:
What a lovely historical romance set in a not as common time period of the 1890s. The setting is surrounded around an extremely wealthy, if not the wealthiest person in London, Diamond Minor Drusko. We get his back story of how he grows to be who he is, how he gets in the mining business, in some really well done double timelines.
In the present timeline he forces an arranged marriage with our FMC, Grace.
She's a music prodigy, writing her own music, singing, and one of the best piano players of the time.
There is a lot of animosity between the MCs but quickly small things get revealed and they both slowly start to lower their guards. Their romance is really beautiful to read.
Even though this book is long I actually would recommend it. It really was a lovely story with some really well written romance.

Review:
Another one of those books I read back in middle school and remember enjoying way more the first time around lol. I thought E.M. Forster painted such a picture of beautiful places and slightly wacky people.
This time around I did it in audio and was actually quite pleased with Edward Petherbridge's performance.

Outstanding:
Week 9 - Amber
Week 10 - CB's selection and a few completions"
Will select a book today! But I should be up to date on my completions.

Book: Sin & Lightning by K.F. Breene
Read: 6/24/25
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: I really do have a love/hate relationship with this series. At some parts I am really lost because this is a hard genre for me and at other times I am really into it. This was probably my favorite book in the series so far. A lot of new characters have been introduced and the relationship between the FMC and MMC is very cute. Alexis finally met her dad face to face, which has been teased throughout the whole series and I really liked that part.

Book: The Paradise Problem

Date Read: June 25th
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review: I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked it (hence I gave it 4 stars) but I found it a bit too insta-love. Liam and Anna lived together as a fake married couple for 2 years and never interacted with each other, but a vacation in a island for his sister's wedding 3 years later is enough to make them fall deeply in love. I find it a bit too unrealistic especially because the have nothing in common and come from very different lifestyles. So what I felt with this book was insta-lust that all of a sudden became love.
That being said, it was a nice read..even if Liam's family frustrated me terribly.

Since today the last call will be announced, I've updated all tracking posts and week #1-#9 are complete! For week #10 we're missing CB selection and CB

Book: Book Lovers by Emily Henry
Read: 6/26/25
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: I have really enjoyed every Emily Henry book I've ever read. She writes complex characters, with witty banter, which is right up my alley. Nora & Charlie's chemistry was really good from the beginning. The book started out with them not really liking each other then ending up that they were completely compatible and couldn't stay away from each other. Both the main character's were from NYC and found themselves in the same small town, which is a little unreal, but I love a small town romance. I would recommend picking up any Emily Henry book for a fun, quick read.

Review: This was cute, but I didn't love it. I do love a small town romance, but this felt very cliché. Murphy returns from LA to her family's vineyard after a traumatic event that happens in her life. She returns to her brother in the process of opening a restaurant and falls quickly for the head chef he has hired, Wes.
