I'm planning to start this one today so I can get it out of the way before the UNO minis happen. No rush for you guys, just jump in whenever you get around to it 😉
Oh Bob, Bob, Bob...It's all nice and well to play God, but (view spoiler)
Really enjoyed my re-read of this one (turned into a single-sitting read), even if there were some moments you couldn't really call enjoyable. (view spoiler) 😭
Got to say though, only in the Bobiverse will you come across sentences like "I didn't want to exit the moose" 🤣🤣🤣
Also, for anyone needing character names for spell-outs, I made a list of which ones actually showed up in the book and contributed in some way. I may have missed one or two because I was too engrossed to remember to write stuff down, but it should be most of them.
Bobs:
Bob (original)
Bill
Arnold
Riker/Will
Bert
Ernie
Mulder
Homer
Sam
Milo
Marvin
Mario
Moses
Garfield
Howard
Thor
Loki
Linus
Marcus
Monty
Oliver
Non-Bobs:
Archimedes
Guppy
Stefan
minister Sharma
Bridget Sheehy
Henry
Cranston
Butterworth
(apologies if some aren't spelled quite right. Downside to audio!)
Phew! Finished this one yesterday. Between this one, and Amazonia, and The Stardust Grail - I am ready for a break from books with themes around one group/species deciding the fates of others, for ill OR good. I do love the Bobiverse tho. I listened to this one vs reading - great narrator but I think it's easier to differentiate between Bob clones chapters when they don't all sound the same :)
Maybe we should start a list where printers/replicators are a core element of the story / world -- not such a leap from where we are now. Like computers, I expect 3d printers / replicators will become a staple of every household (if we don't burn the world down first,) kind of like The Diamond Age.
I've only listened to the audios, but I've not had much trouble distinguishing. I do really like Ray Porter as a narrator though. He doesn't do the boring monotone drone that seems to be popular with male narrators from the US. I've sent many an audiobook back because of that! 😆
I like Porter as a narrator too. I can't really imagine anyone else being "Bob"!
That is quite the cast of Bob's we have in this book - glad they had different names or it would have been impossible to keep track!
And it's amazing they have time to try to find reliable printers and code VR while saving the universe! Everyone needs a Bob!

The book was funny and enjoyable - well most of it, there were a few things that I wouldn't lump in those categories.
