Lately, I've been feeling like it's hard to read again. Mainly because of how slow I read, and I just want to go to a different book already... with the chapter I'm reading kind of dragging on... Should I start reading something short so I can start reading again? What do some of you do to get out of this slump? Are there more efficient ways in going about it?

I really relate to this thread—thank you for starting it. I actually got my motivation back in 2025, after years of not finishing a single book (since 2019, to be exact). Then one day, I sat down and read a whole book in one go. That moment reminded me why I love reading in the first place.I deleted my old Goodreads account and decided to start fresh, without the pressure of how things used to be. I’ve accepted that I read slower now, and honestly? That’s not a bad thing. I’m no longer ashamed of it.
What helped me the most:
I stopped forcing myself to finish books I wasn't enjoying. If I’m not into it, I move on.
I started choosing books that reflect my current interests, not just the ones I think I should read.
I make sure everything else is in order before I sit down to read—otherwise my brain is just running through a to-do list.
And this surprised me: taking notes while reading actually helps me stay focused and more engaged.
It's been a process, but the joy is coming back. Wishing everyone here the same!
I’ve been taking notes while reading too! Although it’s usually just a list of new words that I’ve learned from the book lol
I usually just reread short books that I absolutely love to get myself in a good mindset or mood before actually reading something heavy
