Everyone who is on the list, please pay attention to these next instructions. DO NOT RELY ON MEMORY AS THAT HAS CAUSED TROUBLE IN THE PAST.
We will each need to make sure that we have never reviewed any of the 4 people above us, and that the 4 people below us have not reviewed us. (The list wraps, so 10 is above 1.)


To make sure that the 4 people above you have not reviewed you, follow these steps:
1. Go to your own profile. Under your picture, click the middle link that shows how many reviews you have done. Click that link.
2. On the next page, type the name of one of the 4 people above you into the box that says "Search and add books".
If you have not reviewed that person, it will say so on the next page.
3. Repeat the same search with the other 3 names above your name.
If each search leads to a page that says 'You have no books matching "So 'n' So'" then you have not reviewed any of the people above you, and you are good in that direction.

To check if any of the 4 people below you have ever reviewed you, follow these directions:
1. Go to the profile of one of the 4 people below you. Find the middle link below their picture that shows how many reviews they have. Click on that link.
2. On the next page, type your name into the box that says "Search and add books". If they have not reviewed you, the next page should say "[Author's name] has no books matching [Your name]".
3. Repeat this same search with the other 3 authors below you.
If each search with the 4 authors below you shows that they have not reviewed you, then you are good in that direction.

If you have checked in both directions and you have not reviewed any of the 4 authors above you, and none of the 4 authors below you have reviewed you, you are good to go.

Once you know you are good to go, come back here and post that you are "good to go" or equivalent. Once all 10 of us have checked and have posted that we are good to go, we will be able to begin.

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reads/reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their readers in a format the reviewer can manage. Everyone must be able to provide and accept PDF. You may buy or borrow the books you are due to read if you wish, and I’m sure the author will appreciate the verified review, but IT IS NOT COMPULSORY. There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines.

All reviews must be posted to GR. We also encourage members to post on Amazon. When you have posted your reviews, please post the links to each of your reviews, not the book page in this thread.
The mod of each round will record whether members have posted reviews on Amazon and for the good of all, members who persistently fail to post reviews or DNF reviews to Amazon, will find mods less than willing to add them to subsequent groups.

Postings to other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

To exchange book files, my advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum).

Setting up and modding these rounds is a labour of love, with a lot of emphasis on the ‘labour’. If you want to show appreciation for all the hard work we admins put in for the group, you could download one of our books as a ‘thank you’.

To clear up some possible misunderstandings, there are to be no reciprocal reviews in this review group.

If I am reviewing you, for example, DO NOT review me. You may feel free to buy and read whatever books you like, but do not review the book of someone who is set to review you.

There are several reasons that this review group does not engage in reciprocal reviews.
One is that Amazon deletes such reviews anyway.
Another is that when people are reviewing each other, the reviews often are inflated unnaturally, giving an inaccurate rating to the books. This is why Amazon does what it does in deleting reciprocal reviews.

Having said that, thank you to the people who have contacted me, who are either reviewing me or being reviewed by me.

Everyone should be contacting their people soon if they have not already.

And everyone needs to be prepared to send and receive at least PDFs.

Hi, Jacob, yes. That book does sound suitable for a general round. This one is full. If you keep checking back and looking for a group that says "Now Forming" you will be able to enter that round, provided that you don't have any review conflicts with other members. That means that you won't be set to review anyone who has reviewed you in the past, or be reviewed by someone you have reviewed as we don't do reciprocal reviews in this group.
Since you're new, you likely won't have any conflicts.

Keep checking back, and look for a General round you can join.
