I’m losing my mind over this, but I remember back when I was in middle school I picked up a book that had something to do with murder on the title. However when I read it, it was a short story in the modern day about a girl meeting another girl her age who secretly knew magic. The main character was a bit snobby, practically actually like some mean girl. She uses her new friend as a way to learn a few spells to get back at a girl she hates. The spell she used made the girl she hated, have a large pimple form on her forehead. It was all fun in games until the main character realized the spell she used would be casted on herself too, giving her a pimple as well. The rest of the story goes off with the main character asking for her new friends’s help on how to remove it, while she slowly starts to become a better person. It’s a strange premise, but I desperately want to remember what this book was to finally rest.

Right now, I want something bad to happen to Rachel. Like, for starters, she wakes up tomorrow with a giant zit in the middle of her forehead.

Actually, that’s perfect! Zits are normal for kids our age. And Stella said something about working with nature. What could be more natural than a zit? Oh yeah, I can totally see it. I sit crosslegged on the floor in front of the candle because it feels right. It’s like setting the stage. I close my eyes and picture Rachel’s face. Eeeuw, that face. And then I imagine the zit. It’s enormous. It’s right there between her eyes.
