Fiction or nonfiction, cozy or horror, pro or con, true AI or glorified search engines...let's read about this thing shaping our lives so dramatically! If you want something short and cozy yet unsettling, check out Cat Pictures Please: https://clarkesworldmagazine.com/krit.... I'll be reading Chaos on CatNet, the sequel to Catfishing on CatNet.

Cheryl (6of8) | 193 comments I was trying to figure out if any of the sci-fi on my shelf had enough AI to feel like it legitimately would count.

I know that you have read Children of Time -- how much AI is in that one?(Children of Memory has a significant amount)

Cheryl (6of8) | 193 comments Thanks to Hoopla I managed to finally get my hands (ears rather) on All Systems Red, the first book in the Murderbot series. Quite enjoyable.

Cheryl (6of8) | 193 comments I'm on a roll -- I also read Rogue Protocol and Exit Strategy, books 3 and 4 in the Murderbot universe. I've been doing them as audiobooks and I am out of checkouts for the rest of the month, so book 5 will wait until May. And after waiting only 6 hours between books 3 and 4, after vowing not to jump right in, I have sworn to read the next book group book first, which will also be an audiobook.

In short, for anyone wondering if Murderbot is worth the hype -- yes, definitely.

I enjoyed Chaos on CatNet a great deal. It really digs into a lot of things that teens need to be aware of and that even the super smart ones are susceptible to.

I also listened to The Death I Gave Him for the Folger Shakespeare Library's virtual book club. I should probably try it again in print after revisiting Hamlet. I haven't read it since college, and I can't even remember when I read Macbeth, and I keep conflating the two.
