choice based book, where choices dictate the story (could also be considered as a fantasy, adventure and action story) we play as a secret agent

We read as the protagonist, who is a secret agent of some sort for a secret organisation, at one point he confronts the Yakuza in one of the scenarios and in another scenario, he comes face to face with a giant lizard.

The book was a choice-based book, where the choices dictated the story, but it was also like a fantastical adventure with its share of action, and there were a lot more strange things that the protagonist came across, but I cannot remember them. Maybe there was a witch or wizard at some point?

I read the book in the time range of about 2007-2012. I have a strong feeling that it was either 2011 or 2012.

The book was in English. I think it might have been published somewhere around 2000-2005. I think the cover was very brightly coloured, maybe a lot of blue or red on the cover.
