Fantasy. Multiple main characters but I believe the books starts with a young man. They had a sort of summoning ceremony. The animals that each character had gave them powers or superhuman. I read this book sometime during 2020 during COVID.

I'm pretty sure it was also set in a different time period than ours. the of the characters was a girl who had a cheetah I think or sum similar and she was working for a bad guy and either didn't know it or didn't care but I think later she switched over into being good.
