Older book - Main Female is in early 20's. Mother died giving birth to her baby sister. Dad died because he missed the mother so much. Main Female has custody, baby is around 2. She works but is barely getting by. Baby is fussy. She is about to lose her flat. She sees an advertisement in the paper for a position, but what catches her eye is the "dependent welcome". She interviews for the position. The interviewer, think the main male's grandfather, offers her the job with the restriction she must go along with the idea the baby is her daughter. The two main characters end up sharing a night and he realizes the baby can't be hers. All along he's been believing it was hers and she had told him she dearly loved the baby's father, which is her father also. Baby's name was Wendy. This all happens on a ranch.
