I thought the Kim Watt thread was a series thread for Gobs (and Beaufort)?

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2828 comments oh I did not know that. I only used Gobbelino as the keyword when searching the threads. Sorry mods, you can close/delete this one.

We're going to treat the Kim Watts appreciation thread as a general thread for her fans to talk about their excitement for new releases and as a hub for pointing people to threads for her many series(es?)

Go ahead and use this thread for the BR! I'll add it to the places BRs get put shortly

Meredith | 1819 comments I put a link to this thread in the first post of the Kim Watt appreciation thread too,

Melanie | 78 comments I'm on Chapter Five. I'm really enjoying it so far. :) The writing is really good.

The Tales of Beaufort Scales is also free on Kindle atm, through the author's website, as well as another short book about cats.

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2828 comments thanks Melanie

Olga Yolgina | 589 comments I'm also three chapters in and it's getting quite interesting.

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2828 comments chapter 19
I feel the book is too long and some parts are either repetitive or protracted. There are times when I feel I just want to skim it just to see what happens next.

I'm at chapter 10 and I have a similar feeling. Sometimes I have to make myself reread a paragraph that I accidentally skimmed :)

I also sometimes yell at the characters inside my head: (view spoiler)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2828 comments I agree, Olga. they were not very smart in their choices and often forgot stuff.

I finally finished last night and could only give it 2.5 stars since I was impatient of it to end, which is not a good sign. Though the humour was often enjoyable, like Allison said in her review, the book might work better as a novelette.

Melanie | 78 comments I'm on Chapter 17 and still enjoying it. It's a lovely, light read, but I can see what you mean about it being too long. Not much happens, but it is really funny.

Does anyone else not like the cat's name? It keeps throwing me out of the story, especially when (view spoiler)

Aga | 1090 comments I enjoy the lighter side of fantasy lately. At first it was a little generic, but I have a lot of fun reading the (view spoiler) chapter. I hope that the rest will be as fun as this part.

My consumption of tea and biscuits is going to be high. I can’t get chocolate digestives (from the first chapter) out of my mind.

Melanie | 78 comments I finished the book a few days ago. I really enjoyed it. It was a fun read and just what I needed at the time. It reminded me of Rivers of London. I still hate the name Gobbelino though.

Aga | 1090 comments I have no problem with that cat’s name, but it strongly reminds me of Rivers of London. Mixed with The Cat Who Could Read Backwards.

I love Rivers of London, sad it's gonna end soon but if it goes any longer it would definitely too much.

glad the book came at the right time! timing is key.

I am okay with the name Gobbelino. Though my nickname might not have been Gobs. Could be Gobby or Obel or something.
